I decided to post a new thread at the risk of getting some backlash.
I am a sports masters student studying the effect sports games have on fans.
I would really appreciate people filling out this survey. We have made it fun with a few logo and trivia questions involved.

You should point out that it is pretty much irrelevant to anyone not playing EA sports games.

AZOffaly

Yeah, why is it limited to EA Sports, and particularly FIFA? It almost reads like a bit of market research for EA to be honest.

The Claw

Thanks for the comments guys, just to clarify the survey I'll explain the basis of the research:

We want to test how video games can increase the exposure of a sport, its teams and its leagues (in terms of brand recognition, knowledge, social media etc). As the EA FIFA game has the licence for the logos of the teams and their sponsors etc, this is the only game that we can test on. If there was an up-to-date GAA game with licensed logos and players - I would definitely have used it!

The survey is relevant for those who don't play the EA Game, if you haven't played the EA Game, a rule kicks in whereby you are not asked about your gaming habits, we just test the logos and sponsors etc. Therefore we are able to test those who don't play the game against those that do, and we hopefully will be able to see a difference. In fact, the problem we are having so far is that we haven't got enough people who haven't played the

What about the Madden Series for NFL? I'd say Madden is a big factor in people knowing more about the teams in the NFL...

The Claw

Yes good point AZ, there is also the Colin McRae rally game which did a lot for rally sports and their drivers, NBA Live to a lesser extent. However, I don't think I could deal with all of these different sports so I decided to focus on soccer.
I will be touching on other sports however, but more-so through interviews, so I have been in touch with the IAFA to get their views on whether they think the Madden NFL game increased knowledge of the game, the rules and the teams etc.
I have done an interview with the GAA on their game as well - although not as relevant as they didn't have the correct player names and the game was fairly crap so it wasn't played that much.

Please keep the comments coming - all very valuable to a better project!

Are you sure?
I clicked No for EA, but the next page was still a load of EA-related questions, so I gave up.

Hound, thanks for pointing that out, the rule got lost when we added a page to the survey. It is fixed now if you want to try again!

University students. What's going on?

Just finished the survey by the way.

First question:

"What nationality are you?"

Then you have to choose a Proper noun (country name). Thus I failed to get beyond the first question

Ardal, wording changed especially for you, would appreciate if you were able to complete the survey!

Could be quite relevant. I get quite a bit of traffic on my hurling informational videos from video gaming websites. I've often wondered how big an overlap there is between sports fandom and video gaming. Is it significant?

The Claw

Sorry Eamonnca1 just say this now. I think most sports video gamers are fans, but we are not really testing the overlap between sports fandom and video gaming. We will be looking at the position FIFA are in as a body supposed to be promoting the game of football, yet they are making a lot of money off this video game which you could argue keeps children indoors.

AZOffaly

FIFA wants customers as much as it wants players. Your own survey talks about 'Brand' and that's exactly what FIFA are pushing.
