Corballis (out Donabate way) is a links, so totally different to all the other pay for play courses. Being a links its a nightmare the first couple of times you play it, some blind shots and plenty of the wispy rough where its near impossible to find your ball. As with any links course its for the "thinking golfer", rather than the guy who hits his driver full belt off every non par 3 tee. Its a nice links, some love it, some hate it.

Swords Open is a nice pay per play not far from Roganstown GC.

Deer Park in Howth has plenty of choice. A good 18 hole, plus two decent 9 hole courses, plus a 12 hole par 3 course and an 18 hole pitch and putt course.

Hollystown is a good course. Challenging, plenty of water (if I'm thinking of the right one).

Sillogue is out in Ballymun, close to the M50 exit. I never played it but heard a story of a lad hitting a ball close to a group of scumbags wandering the course, and getting the shíte knocked out of him for his troubles.

Sausalito Bay

Stepaside's not a bad wee track, 9-hole, good value

Hollystown has membership available. No fee upfront but 1350 or so gets you fulll membership, no greenfees therafter. Worth considering if you are going to play that often. if you are near Elmgreen then you are not far from Hollystown. Its 10 mins up the road.

Lovely course. We stayed there for a weekend, thought the hotel staff were a bit uppity! More than likely that has changed its a few years ago. You will not fault the course.

I'm in the market to buy a new Driver,What has everyone else in their bag?
I was looking at this new square head technology,Has anyone any experience with that?
The Nike SASQUATCH SUMO 2 SQUARED 9.5 was the Driver i was thinking of buying http://www.edwinwattsgolf.com/golf-equipment_nike_nike-sasquatch-sumo-2-drivers-squared_10001_10001_99502_-1_1102.htm
I also found this American website that claim to make golf clubs that are as good as the name brands at half the cost
www.pinemeadowgolf.com

Cant go wrong a Taylormade Driver!  I have the R7 Superquad and find it very consistent off the tee and I'm nothing special, currently off 13.  Picked that driver up for €225.

Im with this guy on the brand at least. Was packing the callaway X460 and couldnt hit a barn door with it. Bought the taylormade R5 for 130$ and Ive never felt so confident off the tee. Im off around 12-14. Great club.

Ithink square head techn ology is a gimmick. Does tiger use a square club? Also forget about the other website - you can pick up the brand name you are looking for cheaply online.

I seen that Nike club on a golf show awhile back and they recommended it, i was watching a show lastnite and there is a newer one out which they recommended again so you proably cant go wrong with Nike at the moment! I have the Taylor Made 200 steel shaft, bought it a few years back and still one of my best ever purchases.

Not sure how serious you play golf but I would stay away from any copies if you are looking to knock some shots off the H/Cap!
Grand Slam Saturday!

Ping G5 for me. i would have to say its the best club I have ever purchased. in most 4 balls I suspect the average is at least 2 for the G5's , says something about the club I would say.

Fairly serious about the Golf,My handicap is about 14 which isn't great but finding the time to play is at a premium at the moment
Most of my clubs are Nike,I bought a brilliant set of Nike Slingshot tour Irons in Mcguirks in Blancherstown  http://www.golfreview.com/cat/irons/nike/PRD_286989_2940crx.aspx and can't fault them at all.
I have a Wilson driver that i have several years now and it has a fair few dents in it at this stage.. :-[
I'm willing to spend up to €300,I see that Nike one i mentioned can be bought on ebay for $150

Also while I'm at it,Does anyone use those rescue woods on the fairway? I usually use my irons for a fairway shot but i have a mate who will use nothing only these rescue woods as he calls them,I think they are more a Hybrid than say your conventional 3 or 5 wood

It depends on what club you are comfortable with. If I had to play a round with one club in my bag - it'd be my 5 wood. Little golden bear piece of shit, battered and dented - but its an extension of me on the golf course. If you're comfortable with hybrid clubs - play them.

Looks like Colin Montgomerie is showing again what a well mannered gentleman he really is. Never liked the man and after reading this has went even further down in my estimation:

"Having made an error at the short par four 13th to find water"

"Monty backed off and said to Ross: "Do you have a problem here?". The reply came: "No problem at all". What followed was the most sickening minute I have experienced on a golf course. The Scot replied: "You're here because of me ok, remember that".

I would have said back..I wouldn't be here if you hadn't made such a mess of your first shot,I'd be up at the green!
