I was in buying some carbon cleaning spray for cleaning the EGR valve on my Vectra and I noticed bottle a diesel particle filter cleaner - you add it to the diesel and apparently it helps clean the filter.

Are these any good? Or a waste of money (~ €15 I think)

Edit: Just realised I logged in with my old username - had to setup a new username (macdanger2) a couple of years ago after I forgot the password for this one!!

Not saying we have any proven scorers on the bench either but Dillon is the only one of the 6 that would fall into that category. Hopefuly we'll be classifying AO'S in that bracket too by the end of the season.

Don't agree re Parsons, his fielding of the ball is biggest asset I reckon. Wouldn't see him as an natural CHF. Have you ever seen him play at CHF?

Look Tyrone would not have won last years AI if Mickey Harte did nt have that cop to realise that Sean Kavanagh was nt born with 9 tattooed on his arse. And in 04 he delegated McAnallen to cover full back. I m not just saying it now. Parsons should have been developed as 11 earlier. Time we realised that there s more to the game than catching kickouts.

Anybody notice the carnage Pierce O Neill caused last few weeks v Kerry. Parsons has more to his game.

Tyrone would not have won last years AI if Tom Parsons had't missed a sitter from 30 yards into the Hill 16 end also!!! Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

I agree though with you to a certain extent about Parsons' high fielding, he has a tendancy to keep trying to catch it even when the opposition are punching it.

I'd like to see one/two free takers only on Sunday, I think 6 different lads (Mort/Dillon/A O'S/Andy M/Austie/Harte) had a go against Tyrone in the league with varying success. We haven't had a reliable free taker since Sheridan, we (most teams indeed) probably miss 2-4 kickable frees/game - this should have been addressed.

Heard in Castlebar after Mayo had bowed out of the championship for another year:

"f*ck, out of the championship and the turf not even turned in the bog yet"

Apparently at a Cork V KK final 5/6 years ago, a former KK hurler had a couple of Cork lads behind him chanting "Rebels, Rebels, Rebels..." continuously for the first half and throwing in the occassional comment about same KK hurler and generally sickening his sh*te. Was heading out at half time and the two Cork lads were giving it the "REBELS, REBELS, REBELS...", KK hurler turns around and says

"Ye only ever had one rebel and ye shot him in the back...."

A lot of questions about that team for me.

Only one proven scorer at this level - Dillon.

Two good wing backs but I wouldn't consider either as good at defending - would play McL (or A Higgins) there before either of them.

Who's going to do the work in midfield with McG and Heaney playing together.

Really looking forward to seeing AO'S making his senior championship debut.

Should be good enough to win at home to a Rossie team on the up but still finished mid-table in Div 3.

Mayo by 3/4

Anybody know how P Hanley is getting on in Oz?

How's A Campbell getting on with Swinford this year? Good enough to be making the county squad/team?

Derry 0-09 Mayo 0-06

Sounds like a dour enough game. Reasonable-ish result though

Fair enough if that's your opinon, but you don't play midfield in a team that makes it to the All Ireland final, socre a goal in that All Ireland final if you're not up to inter county standard.

You mean the goal that was served up to him on a plate by a Knockmore man??? ;)

Where's Seamus O'Shea these days?? Is he on the panel?

In the U-21s last year, himself and Parsons cleaned two of Kerrys biggest stars David Moran and T Walsh in midfield (Walsh moved to midfield when Kerry were struggling afaik)

That's probably a fair point, we tend to have very good underage teams rather than very good individual players.

There was 6 or 7 very good individual players on last years minor team that some of us pinpointed 12 months ago. Unfortunately it was a few ordinary ones, and no bench that cost us. The U21 team that won AI was based around a few better players in defense and  midfield. Ditto last years team.

True, there were plenty of good players on those but how many really outstanding players? From last years minors only A O'Se could be considered to be a "star". And that's what we end up with at senior level, plenty of good players around a similar level but not quite good enough to cut it with Kerry/Tyrone.

Reasonably encouraged by JOMs comments after the game, at least he realises that we lacked shape and need to play it more directly. Whether he can rectify this over the months ahead remains to be seen.

QuoteThe issues of working the ball out of the defence comes down to work ethic for me, there was no support play whatsoever yesterday. That is very disappointing but difficult to understand. What is the problem? Are players not interested? Are they not good enough? Have they a game plan? Do they not want to play for the management? Where is the fire?

Wouldn't agree that it was a lack of work ethic, thought it was more a lack of structure. When the backs looked up there was nobody open and looking for a pass around midfield so their only options were to hoof it or a short handpass which as we know didn't work out too well for us. I think this is something that can be relatively easily remedied.....a little worrying that JOM didn't remedy it during the game yesterday though.....

I think what Farrendeelin meant was that people were generally happy when Ballina were bet within mayo and not outside.

For me the best club match i ever saw was the Cross K'more semi final in Ballina in '97, we had beaten them handy the year before but they were really up for it and we edged them out by a point

Was that the match where Mc and o'neill scored about 9 points each that was some match allright except fot the result :D

As far as I remember, McD scored 11 points and Brogan scored 12 in brutal conditions, the game finished 0-12 - 0-13 to Knockmore. Two of the most talented footballers ever to come out of Mayo, one on the way up, the other in his last couple of years......mighty stuff

Very poor start to the league, we'll struggle to retain Div 1 status I'd say.

Very good start to the game but it all fell apart badly after the first ten minutes.

Our main problem was that we had no link between the backs and the half forward line in the second half. When the backs won the ball and looked up, there was nobody to give it to. They ended up short passing it around until they lost it (usually with a simple pass). The blame for this has to lie with the midfield and half forwards (and JOM for not remedying it).

Parsons was anonymous, should have been taken off earlier. Dillon was no better. McG tried hard and was the one who brought us back into it in the 2nd half but he lacks basic footballing skills, particularly poor passing - got a v good point though.

The backs were so-so considering the pressure they were under, an unreal amount of soft stray passes though. Cunniffe did well but he lost the ball softly for the Derry goal. A Moran improved when he moved out to the 40 but he needs to learn to let it off. B Moran must have been fairly p*ssed off, he won any good ball that went into him and won a couple of crap balls into him too. No point in having him in there if we're not going to use him - JOM has to take responsibility for this.

Need to improve big time in the next few matches but you might be overreacting Barney with calling for JOM's head! Sacking the manager after a 2 point loss to the reigning league champions despite the poor performance would make us a laughing stock. Who would you replace him with?
