My parish has 3 chapels. One was rebuilt last year, one was built in the seventies, and the third is about 100 year old.

Mine, which was built in the late seventies has a leaking roof. The roof design is so bad, that an option is to pull the whole church down, sell the land and move parishioners to the other two churches. This otpion would also address a shortage of priests and pay off the massive debt on the the newly built church.

Obviously there will be a group of people who do not want the church closed. On an aside, OWC defenders bombed the church twice, once when it was being built and again in the early eighties but I dont believe it is the main cause of the leak.

For me, its a sign of the times. The Vatican could sell a painting and pay of the debt, or we could arrange wet teeshirt competitions but I cant guarantee enough water. But what is the point of keeping a church open when nobody goes and there aint enough clergy?

Anyone else experienced church closures?

I dont really mind the excruciating sound too much, as it drowns out the wife, but will all these nasty waves floating through the air melt my incredibly powerful brain? Know wha I mean like? United! United!

Two teenagers have appeared in court in connection with an attack on two Canadian tourists in west Belfast.
The youths, aged 16 and 17, were charged with robbing the brother and sister of £20 and a piece of jewellery.

They were released on bail of £200 each and told they must live outside west Belfast.

The man was hit on the head with a baseball bat and needed stitches. The woman was pushed against a wall. They returned home to Canada on Monday.

Why can't the names of these young adults be publicised? Why are their addresses not reported? Will they be publicised after they've been let off (it was all fuelled by drink and drugs).

I for one would like to see these young adults put in stocks for a day or two and let people pelt them with tomatoes or very old eggs.

And feck their human rights. Their parents should be forced to pay back double the money stolen.
