I would be very interested to see a chart of Liverpool supporters by age in Ireland. I bet there are fewer under the age of 30.

I couldn't find anything for you but the best I can find is that 100% of Liverpool fans in Ireland are Liverpool fans.

Take from that what you can and the best of luck with your research.

GAA Discussion / Re: Managing pitch schedules

We would meet with a representative from each team at the beginning of each month when the fixtures are known. The fixtures are put in the schedule first and then each teams preferred training time. Any clashes are ironed out there and then and leaving the meeting everyone knows their next 4/5 week plan.

This is then emailed round by the secretary. Any changes to it must be notified to her and only into available slots as per the original schedule.

Works very well, was harder for the first period last year but everyone nearly knows going into the meeting now their own plans.

Apps and online stuff just  wouldn't work as I feel people would leave it late to look or not add their session and then there would be clashes when two teams turn up.

I don't like the sport, its just a bit too raw or brutal for me. The fighters definitely have some sort of killer instinct to inflict as much damage, by any means on their opponent.

But saying that, I get McGregor and would totally admire him. To do what he does, he can't be a normal guy, he's not going to be Ed Sheeren, all nice and touching the world. He needs to be supremely confident, beyond cockiness. He needs to get in peoples faces, he needs to get in his opponents head and he needs to be cold blooded.

He is without doubt dedicated to his pursuit of the prize. He is all mouth and OTT at it but I don't think he could compete at that level without been as he appears. Plenty suggest that away from the cameras and in the gym with his own people, he is relaxed and very much like anyone else going about their business.

It will come to a day when he is defeated and it will be interesting to see how he reacts.

There is plenty of Niall Quinns, Ed Sheerens, Bernard Brogans, Daniel O'Donnells in the world, we need the balance of a McGregor.

He's here to stay because he can certainly back up his mouth.

A lot seem to be suggesting that it was done to celebrate a draw. I don't think it was anything of the sort and was always going to happen. Even in defeat he would have marched them over to do it as means to apologise.

He built up a serious relationship between fans and players at Dortmund and this was a regular feature. It may have been mentioned but last year after a defeat he took the players over to the fans and had them chat with them. They were really struggling at this stage but he made sure it was about the fans rather than  the players.

Anfield can be a funeral home during games and he obviously wants to address this - praising the atmosphere yesterday, highlighting the importance of late goals, mentioning the early leavers a few weeks back.

Even today Henderson post match interview has been about the fans and how important they where.

Klopp doesn't give a dam what others think, his only concern is the 90 mins on the field and getting the result and he sees this an important factor as teams will come to Anfield and set up to defend knowing Liverpools struggles and they are entitled to do that. He will try and ensure its as uncomfortable as possible for them.

The usual histrionics by mostly non-United supporters on here, AZ as per usual a notable exception.

I only disagree with MM on Mata - I accept he doesn't have the quickness of Herrera but he's a very good player in my book. Taking him off for Powell last night was sheer madness. And Schweinsteiger, who had improved recently, was complete crap last night. Lost balls and left the back 4 exposed on numerous occasions.

United were sloppy in this group, most notably the two PSV games but last night also. They attacked a bit quicker and created some good chances last night which was encouraging (Martial is really going to be great, Depay looked better). Even though it's most unlikely United would have managed to go any further it is annoying to go out at this stage. It wasn't as easy as say Chelsea's group but even a transitioning United should have got through.

Gallsman - not sure what your point is? I think MM's analysis is spot on so I'm going to say so. Sorry if this offends you.

I'm desperate for Mata to do well but he's been very disappointing the last few months. That sort of game last night was perfect for him last night and he didn't do enough against a team who haven't a hope of winning the CL. I would like to see a midfield 3 of Schneiderlin, Herrera & Mata  given a run of a few games before writing him completely off. Agreed on our German, he was poor last night and got caught out several times, the suspension will do him good.

Fergie made plenty of bad signings down the year which appears to be forgotten and signing world class players is a lot more difficult then it ever has been as there are now more clubs than ever with huge money to spend and most of the worlds best players are already at the top clubs; So naturally LVG has gone down to the route of buying younger players like Martial, Depay & Shaw mixed in with players in the mid 20's who will hopefully improve at OT.

Truth be told, Mata was playing well at start of the season, so much so that I put him in my FF team. Since then he has been poor to average, likely because I have him in my team. Its just the way things are.

And for the record, I'm keeping him there no matter how bad he is  ;)

Whey protein can work out at 30-50p a shake and can taste nice depending on the flavour. Obviously helpful if you don't get enough protein in your current diet and usually low in carbs/fat/calories as well when taken with water. Very convenient to have a shaker filled with a scoop of protein in your gear bag for after exercise to tide you over a bit until your next meal.

They also contain BCAAs which can help with recovery.

Does no harm if you can afford the initial outlay and maybe don't get enough protein in your current diet.

Never use them and hate the bollox's at the gym who throw their powder all over the place and shake the bottle like their life depended on it.... if they'd exercise as hard as they shake that thing they'd be bigger!!

Which makes me wonder (as the vast majority at the gym use them) what the feck do they have for dinner? do they not have a balanced diet at all? and if you don't have a balanced diet surely having a protein shake wont make a hell of a difference?? Like I said I don't use them so probably ignorant to them, but in fairness I don't see a wild bit of difference in body shapes by people that use them

We had a nutritionist in with the club last year and she totally ruled out using protein shakes or any other supplements. This was all on the basis that people exercising regularly should be more focused on their diets than taking shortcuts. He main point is that the body doesn't expect the protein in this form and it is forced into the body in large quantities above and in a different form than the body normally deals with.

Far more natural ways to take it in directly after exercise eg dairy products, milk, certain nuts and then eat correctly.

I like the nutri-bullet myself and can load up after a run on that.

I agree on the whole diet thing but that's why they are called supplements. I.e. to supplement your diet, not replace it.

a protein shake has around 23-27g of protein per serving, roughly the same as 2 eggs, 1 tin of tuna, 1 chicken fillet, 1 medium sirloin steak. don't really buy the large quantities argument she uses.

i'll know to use my shaker in private round the gyms in belfast.  ;)

I think the point was that it was unnatural and digested in an unnatural manner - hence the rush of it into the system bypassing the natural digestion and breakdown process.

And for the record, she hated the phrase supplement as it only emphasised the need to avoid them if you have a balanced diet.

"Whats in it for Darkie?"

W.T.F!!

I've seen this boyo at a few different things and can say for certainty that he wasn't acting anyway and that's the way he goes on.

As TV it was brilliant. As a reflection on public office it was terrible.

Can only look forward to his defence of this that started yesterday on local radio with the "I knew all along" line.

One of the best comments on twitter after it was that Hugh McElvaney was the only honest politician on the show as he was straight and upfront that he wanted cash.

1) - Goodfellas (5pts)
2) - Shawshank Redemption (4pts)
3) - Life of Brian (3pts)
4) - The Dark Knight (2pts)
5) - See no Evil, Hear no Evil (1pts)

Very hard to call. Made the decision on my first watch of these films and the WOW factor from that.

Other mentions - Stars wars (original 3), Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, A bridge too Far, LOTR, Debbie Does Dallas.

Absolute brilliant show last night in Dublin.

Great atmosphere and energy. Band on top form and thought Bonos voice much stronger than the Berlin show I seen. Was hoping that they'd finish with Bad and they did with One then added on as well.

I really like the new songs but felt a lot of crowd didn't know them.

Great for people watching with Dave Fanning sat behind me with the family and Enda Kenny sat 3 rows in front.

I'll watch the Toy show later LL  :)

Sat?! Old fogie!
You should note that I said they sat. I was bopping with the best of the young ones  ;D

The best one was Kuyts as it was from a grand total of 2 yards and against United at Anfield!
