Hurling Discussion / Re: Tickets for Sunday

Bit of a sweat, but scored 2 Sunday morning. Pity Galway didn't show up till minute 69, but well done to Limerick - delighted for them actually.

Jaysus absolutely lipping for a ticket on Sunday, but having no joy....would really appreciate any lead

- genuine Galway fan and hurling coach.

Would totally agree that that - think we need an injection of energy and slattery, McNally and Kelly should all be in the reckoning

Are there highlights of this game available anywhere...apparently there were extended highlights on yesterday afternoon's TSG, but they're not on the rteplayer for some reason

Kildare lost that game today because of 3 occasions in which an advantage which accrued was not applied and the play was called back.

So given the relative success of the self-policing of the mark, why not, in a similar fashion for fouls, have the ref blow the whistle in the event of a foul, then have the fouled team/player decide themselves if they want the advantage, within a 5 second window....that way they could play on if they wanted. If they want to take the free, they simply stop and raise their hand.

Controversy over AND justice served

Whadyye think?

Wit Doyle out, and feely doubtful, I'd be thinking neil Flynn comes in either on the 40, with Conway dropping to cb, or to FF, with Brophy going to half forward....is he fit? Automatic starter for me if he is... Lovely footballer

/I would worry about Tommy Moolick in the middle, but he will probably start. He just lumbers a bit much at times and he could be targeted.
Talk of Paul Cribbin in the middle perhaps and leave Slattery on the wing?/

I would totally agree with that. I think Tommy will be caught out trying to keep up with James McCarthy and the pace of the fame in general in croker, so given slatterys solid outing against meath, he stays in for me, with cribben across the the middle.

Neil Flynn is ready - so it's 2 Flynns & Brophy for me inside

Mayo's weak spot =their forwards.
Mayo's best player =Keegan

Why not move Lee into the forwards?  - I always thought he'd be fantastic there and mayo have plenty great backs

He's good partly because he can time going on those runs up the field. In the forwards you are often receiving the ball with your back to goal. Totally different dynamic.

Get that gbb - and yet Meath won an all Ireland in the 90s with 5 club half backs playing in the forwards...
So conversion is often easier that it might seem. What better man today do it than the best footballer in the country?

Anyone get what the other black card for Kildare was for... Obviously feelys was for a trip -the other was given off the ball, so not sure if it was for sledging or for an earlier incident.

I liked the 50m penalty for cynical fouls mentioned earlier on newstalk by Michael quirke.....anywhere on the pitch would see the ball being moved 50m toward goal, often to a scorable position....Sin bin should apply for yellow card offences.
I've heard this is taken from aussie rules, but I admit I've never seen it there.

For a clear run through on goal the black card could be maintained....the concept of the professional foul works pretty well in soccer,I would say...i can't recall many contentious ones.

So rather than reinventing the wheel,we could take what has worked elsewhere.

Either way,Congress rules or not, we cannot sit through another season of this inconsistency...leaving aside the gross unfairness on many of the players

Good point jinxy...wasn't there one year, where all meath  forwards bar ollie Murphy were defenders for their clubs...

Why not a double header in croker next Sunday. Seems a bit of a wasted opportunity?
