Tends to be twitter I think. But for twitter there'd be no Jamie Bryson and I don't think there'd be the rise there is in the south either.

When will people catch about twitter? Like I know I've umpteen posts on here, but that's my limit, of social media, when someone talks to me about what they seen on twitter or some said this on TikTok I'm immediately rolling my eyes and wanting to bash their heads in

Will Twitter and the like get worst or will it die a death? 

It won't die. I do like Twitter but it can be a cesspit. I block loads of people who get in the way of important things like GAA and NBA news etc

Laois / Re: Laois Senior Footballers 2...

Laois did get a huge slice of luck with Fermanagh's best player getting red carded early in the game last year. Had it been 15 on 15 for the entire game I'm not sure we would have won out in the end. Wicklow game is a 50/50 game and Carlow are not at the races this year so we should pick up a victory there.

Losing to Offaly in the manner that we did was a good reality check for the players-after the Leitrim win we definitely had an inflated sense of where we were at. Sligo's dismantling of Leitrim in Connaught really showed how weak Division 4 was this year and how far off the rest the country teams like Laois and other Division 4 counties are. Laois have a big gap to bridge next year if they are compete for promotion from division 3 with the likes of Sligo and Kildare in 2025.

Laois are very capable of making the Tailteann Cup quarter finals. McNulty will have the team well prepared and hopefully we will be competitive against whoever we face. I still don't think we have enough players with real pace which will be a problem later down the tracks if we get to Croke Park and have to face a side like Sligo or Down.

OK I really like the gaa social podcast, but can someone please have a word in Tommy Niblock's ear and tell him to tone it down on the self praise for the podcast ffs lol

Prompted by his most recent tweet today, here's more his tweets introducing entirely different episodes in just the past year or so:

• "Some will say this is the best podcast we've created. Considering the powerful people we've had, I appreciate that's big speak."
• "This podcast has everything. Beyond powerful"
• "This is the story of Frank McGuigan. It is among the most powerful podcasts we've ever recorded."
• "Tristan our videographer, turned to me after recording and said "I don't think there's many we've done as powerful". I think he's right."
• "It's probably our most powerful podcast yet."
• "In perhaps the most powerful episode of the GAA Social, former Armagh manager Brian Canavan talks about the 1998 killings of Damien Trainor & Phillip Allen in his Bar. "

All that aside, it's still, unquestionably, the no 1 GAA podcast by some distance!

Yeah 100%, I really like the podcast but I find Niblock incredibly smarmy.

Had the same thought... is constant... "this week is our most powerful yet..." kinda of diminishes saying that for previous ones. Tho some have been very good.

So we have already apportioned blame in the most recent fatalities to the deceased because of their age? 

The three prior fatal collisions have claimed 5 lives, all over the age of 30. The road in its current form is simply unfit for purpose.

No one is blaming age all the, but don't let that get in the way of your post. This reason for this accident is unknown, a single car accident involving teenagers. I don't know anyone that is against making this road safer.

But having suggestions in general about car safety and driving sensibly can also happen separately 

Well the two proceeding posts both coincidentally referenced further speed restrictions on young drivers, that is not going to quell the fatality rate on the A5.

Laois / Re: 2024 Joe McDonagh Cup

Laois definitely have the winning of this tournament in them, but would wait till after the win before getting Antrim.

Carlow have done really well considering no points but have not shipped the heavy defeat that Antrim had last week so when we meet our advantage is a home game against them.

Dublin are not going to take us lightly either so would take an even bigger result away from home to gain third for us.

Absolutely, the team needs to stay focused on the tournament in hand. Us fans can merely speculate though!
The Laois V Kerry match on Saturday is the springboard game to coast into the final. For Offaly, every game for them going forward is knockout with their biggest threat in the form of Kerry at Tullamore later this month. These two games will really decide the Joe McDonagh Cup.
If we lose this Saturday and Offaly beat Kerry on May 19th then we are in a dog-fight with Westmeath in the last round - a dogfight in Mullingar is really where we don't want to be.
A vital game this Saturday coming up.

Been a great competition which has not been given much credit or attention, while winning it wont propel you to tier one status, it moves you into a competitive tier two level and that where you want to be

 is the killer

I wonder how many first seeds will win their qf . Will it be 3/4 like last year ?

You would have to assume 4/4 would be the standard every year for the group winners making it the the semis.
This would have been the case last year only for Monaghan's penalty win over Armagh.

I wouldn't be surprised if 3/4 would be the usual most years for the first seeds in as regards making the semis. I think most years you've a very decent chance of one of the Ulster teams turning over one of the other provincial winners.

As you said the the preliminary quarter-finals route with 3 games in 3 weekends looks like an absolute death-trap of a route towards Sam. It's very hard to see a team winning Sam through that route.
