Quote from: tiempo on April 12, 2024, 02:40:20 PMLatest podcast was a bit ott in terms of GAA exceptionalism, GAA has its share of fraud, spivs, spoofers, and wrong'uns - Joe's experience seems akin to Tom Cruise involvement in Scientology

And why so much hate for Micky Harte - referred to as 'that man' in the latest episode, a bit much

I used to find Brolly really interesting, he actually seems to be becoming slightly unhinged.

I can easily see him totally ostracised in the media world and an Ewan MacKenna type character in a few years
His podcasts are very good and popular albeit he is prone to tall tales. A far cry from Ewan McKenna.

Don't know an awful lot about McKenna or his background, but Brolly and him share a similar narcissistic trait, it's all about them and being the centre of attention even if that is offending people.

The Harte thing is Joe being Joe, saying something controversial so that he is "trending" on social media, there must be an adrenaline hit in it for people wired like Joe.

That's exactly  right.  As Oscar Wilde Said , "there's only one thing worse than being talked about , and that's not being talked about".

Brolly  has to be in the  limelight, regardless  of who suffers or who he insults.  He just needs to be centre of attention .  The Mickey Harte thing is just the latest  thing

It's fairly tiresome at this point. I see he will now not let his entrenched hatred towards Mickey Harte stop him attending games. He loves this Derry team now that they're going somewhere, the same group who told him to run on when he tried to enter the Clones changing rooms and bask in their glory after we beat Donegal 2 years ago.

Even though he said he wouldn't be attending any more Derry senior games when Harte was appointed, maybe he meant Derry senior hurlers

A terrible performance from Liverpool way under par.

Agreed and his kicking is and has been really below average

Quote from: smort on April 09, 2024, 10:34:38 PMIs the all-star team still decided by trial matches?

Just seen the team posted there and no players from Omagh, Dungannon or Donaghmore

Yeah, well the hurling definitely is & I assume the football is the same. They are a nonsense

A clear penalty according to Rio Ferdinand, it's a crowded field but he is the worst football pundit out there

Quote from: Capt Pat on April 06, 2024, 09:05:38 PMClare deserved it in the end I think. But the ref nearly handed the result to Kilkenny with the wrong decision to give Kilkenny a penalty and Rodgers a black card. Justice was done when Cody missed the penalty.

You can give a penalty inside the 21 I thought

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on March 20, 2024, 03:28:44 PMI wonder who'll pay that fine?

Hayes is quite affluent allegedly according to the Judge, so €10K won't be much of a hardship..

It's to be paid in two €5k instalments

Quote from: Captain Obvious on March 13, 2024, 10:45:29 PMThat's last year's finalists out before the last eight. Not a strong field like the past will go against logic should Manchester City not retain the Champions league title.

Last years QFs had Napoli, Milan, Chelsea & Benfica - hardly stellar

Quote from: Rossfan on March 08, 2024, 11:39:52 AMIf the Euro soccer doesn't happen due to no more £s from the Brits then provide what you can with the funds available..new pitch, 5,000 seat stand, some terracing.
Imagine thinking a GAA style stadium straight from the 60s would be sufficient going forward for years... Clones needs replaced, an Ulster final location is needed. Your suggestion ain't it
No Brit money = no Euro soccer = GAA have £80m (possibly plus our €50m).
Who then is going to pay the extra £75m to build a 34k capacity Ulster Final Stadium?
Just asking a realistic question ;)
First off, the GAA requirements are not the full cost of the stadium. GAA needs are far less than the UEFA standard, so if no Euros, or they don't want to host UEFA matches or such in future, then the cost gets revised down quite a bit from the silly figures being bandied about the place. I can't see how the British are let off with putting in no more money here, Euros or not. The original NI executive allowance is very far below inflation levels, and in order for some sort of stadium to be built, they will come in with something. I can't see how it will be swallowed politically if Ireland chumps in with 50million a few weeks ago and they do nothing, yet will get the tax proceeds of a stadium there. A very good stadium can be built with no Euros, but the point being is for a little bit more, the Euros can be done and you leave a modern legacy stadium there for all and paid off nearly immediately.

Well, they have continually underfunded the north  for years , so  not stumping up money for Casement would be  nothing new.

Not really true when you look at what's spent here per head compared to England

Quote from: NAG1 on March 04, 2024, 08:53:48 AMAnyone else finding the Fibrus Antrim MOTM award slightly cringeworthy?

I assume there is a reason they can't give the award to the opposition, especially outside the 6 counties.

Is the award a broadband package of some description ? But I agree, last week for example when the hurlers lost by 25 points and an Antrim player has to stand and accept a MOTM award
