Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling and Football Thread

the ulster championship is done, even with Armagh joining next year to make another game. would be interested in hearing everyones views on the idea Sambo had a while back about Antrim joining the Leinster championship. what about joining senior only, or at all levels? obviously this will ruin hurling in Ulster but as he said at the time Antrim people have to be selfish and look after their own house

Johnny you are 100% right, the times when these boys played was when Antirm could compete at the highest level. I was on the minor team that played the day Rogy marked Harry Ryan in dundalk. I have played against some of these and with Barr and Rogy (guess what club i am from), why are these 2 not part of the poll? in fact why are Jim Fegan, Aiden Hamill and Sean Collins not included?

Johhny it is a foul as the throw is classed as a technical foul. how players get away with it is by disguising the "throw" as dropping the ball. how refs get around this is if the ball has forward motion then it cant just have been dropped - forward motion is a throw so blow for the foul. however it is not very often that the refs catch this on

there was a seperate committee, which was made up of the County chairman and secretary, someone from Creggan and Ahoghill (who seemingly have stated they know nothing about hurling) and 2 others. They made the recommendation that Sambo and Woody get the post, that is how the vote took place.

It was confirmed last night that sambo and woody have been appointed as the county hurling managers. They won the vote from the floor , which was not as close as a lot of people expected.

While i do agree with Antrim entering the leinster champ. and trying to win a title down there, how would you then manage the AI championships/

I hear O'Neills former clubmate Mickey Rea (now Glenavy) showed up well at the Antrim trials over the weekend

Mickey is now a clubmate of mine and is definitely worth a shout for the county team. quick, thinks ahead, good off both feet and deadly from fees

A while back Sambo reckoned that it would be better for Antrim and leinster  if we went into the Leinster championship. obviously this would be detrimental to Ulster Hurling and the work the ulster council are doing. any views??
