The use of personal data to micro advertise and influence elections is one of the most sinister aspects. Facebook etc are "free" in return for data which can be used for very antisocial purposes

the main effect I see is an overexaggeration of everything . including the problem itself.
it like the recent rows in the GAA they are only a big issue because we have picture and an easy way of disseminating them . I have seen no evidence that the numbers of incidences have increased at all .
the same goes for homelessness bullying and suicide

It has really created a culture of outrage. Everyone has to be outraged by everything. You can see it by certain people on this board too. I suspect their age has a bearing and growing up in the social media culture.

Bullying is easier I would say though but you are bang on with the GAA rows. They're not ok but the same has been going on for years.
