Ah that's too complicated for him! And if City win all their games they win. They have the advantage of having done it time and again, and coming back from further behind last year. But I think Newcastle will put it up to them next game. Great to be involved in the race. So far at least

Quote from: J70 on January 01, 2024, 09:27:31 PMNunez could have had a hattrick tonight. Team could be four or five up. This could be costly if they don't pull it out in the last half hour.

Darwin Nunez couldn't finish an ice cream.
Miss the screamer he scored in the previous league game? You should look it up.
Also put the opener on a plate for Salah this evening.
8 goals and 8 assists this season (5 and 6 in the league) makes him the second highest score contributor in the team. Not too bad.

You can stat the shit out of him, he's possibly the worst finisher since big Andy, love his work rate but feck me, put the ball in the back of the net, he was bought to score goals, not miss them or lay them off for someone else
16 goal contributions this season. Only an idiot would compare that to Andy Carroll. But work away!

Oh I'll work away alright, he's Liverpools most expensive player ever and bought to score goals. He has the pace and team mates that gives him the opportunity to score many times in a match. He's young but a natural finisher is born with the gift. Hope he proves me wrong I'd love to see him go on a run.

The bookies have city favourites (1/4 is raging favourites) because their second half of the season has proved to be their winning of the leagues in the past.

But I haven't said anything wrong, at this stage, it's in Liverpools hands.

All this hangs on De Bruyne, if he comes back and stays injury free and plays well then everyone else is playing for second. He's that good a player and leader. Wish we had him.

Slobbershai hammy.....bad timing with Endo away. Squads always never far away from crisis. Thiago maybe give us a pull out yet...

He didn't decide what his transfer fee is. He is one of 5 good strikers at the club. It doesn't matter who scores them. He's second of the five this season in terms of goal contributions. Key opening goal v Burnley out of nothing in the previous game. He missed chances today, but he hit the target mostly and the keeper made some great saves (two in particular). He's an easy target that when keeper saved from him, commentator was calling it a Nunez miss. When keeper saved from Jones and Gakpo, commentator called it a Dubravka save.  But Darwin kept going and did really well to put the opener on a plate for Salah.

Never stops working, strong, fast, good in the air and can hit with both feet. He'll get very close to 20 goals by the end of the season.

Milltown Row2

Andy Cole should have scored 40 a season every year, bar that one season he hit 41, he missed a lot, but scored to cover up the misses, Nunez might turn out to be that.

I do love his endeavour though.

Thought Jones and to a slightly lesser extent Endo were great. Gomez has slotted in nicely at LB.

That game probably should've finished about 8-2.

I for one love Nunez but if he was playing for another team I'd probably slag him off like others here. I used to do the same about Andy Cole cause there was not much else to slag when utd were winning trophies left, right and center.

Deerstalker

Nunez just misses too many chances and it's going to hurt Liverpool in tighter games, I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved on in the summer. Like did anyone expect him to score that one on one ? I didn't.

3 weeks until the next premier league game. I don't care about the fa cup this year. Hopefully he will have rrcovered by next premier league game.

True. Good chance of Carabao and a good run in Europa as well as being involved in a title race hopefully. I'd take a respectable defeat as long as they let us win the League game 🙂

Great performance last night and fully deserved three points.A testing month ahead with main man Salah gone and the much improved Endo who will be a loss. The injury to Szobozlai is not ideal. City have the experience of winning the title and rightly bookies favourites with two main players to come back in January. The one title Liverpool won was a one horse race another race they have been involved in with this crop of players they came up short against superb city teams.

Gomez has been excellent to be fair since he stepped in at left back.

Same number of shots (34) last night as the United game but a totally different match. Against United liverpool were really poor and most of the shots were speculative, last night they were really clear chances and a combination of bad luck, great keeping and poor finishing kept the score down. You do feel for Nunez, he has a couple of really good strikes that are well saved and then Gakpo comes on and scuffs one that completely wrongfoots the keeper.  ::)  ::)

City still the main danger and I fully expect them to go on a run but nice to be top for a few weeks! Hopefully Szoboslai's injury not too serious, even though his performances have dipped, we will need him with Endo away.

Was encouraging last night that Diaz had his best game in a long time, the fact Liverpool had all 5 attackers available for the first time I don't think was a coincidence as competition for places means players have to up their game.  Harvey Elliott could be an important player over the next few weeks with Endo, Szobolzai and Salah all missing I would expect him to get minutes particularly in the three cup games.  He has been good in a number of cameo roles this season.
