Laois / Laois U20 Championship
October 06, 2019, 11:19:18 AM
Looking at the weekend first round results  I see some alarming results/outcomes..Graiguecullen  conceded...Porylaoise well beaten, Stradbally parish well beaten. It confirms my view that a shift from traditional football strongholds is happening...Is this because these traditional strongholds have or are not doing enough at ground level.Normal hurling strongholds are now coming to the fore in senior adult football. Ballyfinn @ Rosenallis are proving my view..

Laois / ACFL Division 1B

Ballylinan beat Port tonight 1-8 to 1-7 . Tough game with Ballylinan doing all the work in the first half leading by 5 at HT. Port came back strongly and led by a point coming into injury time but Cathal Dunne scored two in injury time to win it. Ballylinan were missing the two Walsh brothers due to  knee ligament injuries.

Laois / Qualifiers.
June 04, 2017, 06:06:57 PM
Just home and its sad to say we are at the very bottom of the pile now. We are a Div 4 outfit, a Div 4 management set up and a Div 4 administration. Simple as, no buts and no ifs.
Since we have to enter the qualifiers i honestly hope we get the toughest of draws and see where it takes us but id prefer if we just called it off right now. So so disappointed.

Laois / Gaels amalgamations
December 02, 2016, 01:18:10 PM
Lots of club general meetings over the coming weeks. Was wondering is their any news/rumours regarding Gaels amalgamations for the coming year(football). I hear Kileen aproached Timahoe to join with them. Joe's /Barrowhouse is back on the agenda again.Cretty/Spink/Ballinakill is also being talked about. On the management front i hear P Clancy is with Graigue and Higgins is with Ballyroan although Kileshin are also interested in him. I also hear that Martin Murphy is gone from Stradbally(silly season talk IMO).

Laois / Thuggary.
June 14, 2015, 04:21:44 PM
I'm reluctant in posting this but i feel too many people at ad ministrive level in Laois are ignoring the following issue.(s)
I attended a League Div 1 game on Friday evening between Saint Josephs & Arles Kileen. I'm not exaggerating but I've never seen such thuggery  as i witnessed at this game (Albeit from one team only). Players were abused, kicked, cynically fouled and punched resulting with at least one player being admitted to a Dublin hospital with a very serious jaw/head injury. Another player is carrying a leg injury received   from a kick while attempting to legally take a ball from the ground. Another player ( a very young player was very cynically taken out of the game by a deliberate rugby style tackle. None of these incidents were dealt with satisfactorily by the referee as should be as stated in the official rule book. I was horrified by what i witnessed although i didn't see the incident where the player received the head injury.I also hear that in the past week or so two players from other clubs received serious injuries in other games and had to be hospitalised.
This has to stop now or someone will not recover. those players are amateurs and have families and have to work. From what i witnessed on Friday evening was the win at all cost mentality using thuggery as means to achieve this.Shame on those who act like this, shame on those who condone it and shame on those who ignore it. Note.. The game in general when played within the rules was excellant with St Josephs playing a very young footballl playing team.It ended in a draw
