I expect Mullinalaghta to navigate their side of the draw. The other side is more difficult to predict.

Naomh Columba was a great choice. He was probably the greatest Irishman
in a thousand years.
He took no shite from anyone.
And he would be top of the pantheon, far ahead of Naomh Mochuda.
Just in case they get past Éire Óg, like.

Meath clubs have never been overly competitive in Leinster, if memory serves, even when the county team was the best around. I doubt Dunboyne would be a top 10 team in Dublin, but Portlaoise and probably 2 or 3 Kildare teams would be.

No apart from Dunshaughlin in the early 2000's we've not done a whole lot in Leinster. Only 3 clubs from Meath have ever won the leinster club champions. The only one I remember was Dunshaughlin in 2002.
A bit of research finds that Summerhill won it in 1977 and Walterstown won it twice in the early 80's.
Still you'd like to think our best club would be a lot closer to that of any other county.

Meath wouldn't have any dominant club. I counted 9 different champions over 15 years. Inter county strength doesn't necessarily translate to club success. Tipp clubs would be relatively weak in hurling for example.

Huge congrats to you Laurel...Mullingar for the final?
First ever Longford team in a Leinster senior final well done to Mullinalaghta St. Columba's.
Well done to Columbas and Laureleye.
Eire Og cannot be happy. First time in a Senior game for the team's score = their red cards?
Kilmacud got a serious run for their money today. Portlaoise's shooting let them down - they had some terrible wides.
Well done Mullinalaghta St. Columba's, great achievement.
Just shows what you can do with minimum player base and resources.

Eire Og very immature
Eire Mor must be very annoyed
Is it a case of the smallest Club in Leinster's smallest County v The Bingest Club in the biggest County.?

This time of the year I'm sure he can manage both. More likely it's his family that is wondering where he is, rather than the Cavan footballers! If they were to win Leinster then it would become and issue for Cavan.
Great game between Kilmacud and Portlaoise.
(shows the current rules are perfectly good when teams approach the game properly).
Personally thought Portlaoise deserved the draw. Very brave decision for Coldrick to give that penalty at the death. TV angles inconclusive, and it's something defenders almost always get away with, but Coldrick was right up with the action and had the perfect view so I'm sure he called it right. Super save from Nestor from what was a well struck peno. But Portlaoise will be kicking themselves for all the wides they had. Didn't see what the wide count was, but they must have had at least 5 or 6 more than Crokes.
Very poor attendance in Parnell Park. Kilmacud a funny club. For a club with so many members and so many juveniles, it just doesn't transfer to the senior team. Perhaps the worst supported team of any of the 16 Division 1 teams in Dublin.
Columbas impressive in this Leinster final so far. Conceded an early goal but have responded very well to take the lead.
Columba's giving Crokes their fill of it. 0-5 to 1-1 up after 20m.
And Pat Burke's goal was a square ball, but none of the Columba's lads appealed.
Terrible decision by the ref to give the Crokes cornerback a black card
All square at the break, 1-2 to 0-5. Think Crokes will win comfortably enough, but the longer Columba's stay in it, they may have a chance of an upset.
Scoreboard is giving 0-6 to Columbas and Tg4 have 0-5 was a score missed? Longford lads used up a lot of their energy in that 1st half and Crokes have the strong wind advantage now.
The wind will help but the ground conditions should slow it up, St Cloumbas not giving Crokes too much room and decent tackling..
How can you have an employee of Dublin GAA refereeing this game?

One of the best things about the GAA is the underdog winning. Take note HQ. Congrats St Cloumbas will be some party in Longford tonight.
Well deserved win for Columbas. By far the hungrier (and better) team on the day.
Mickey Graham's stock will fairly have risen after this.
Incredible!
Well done Columba's
Great to see the underdog have its day! Crokes were 1/5 today
Good call by T Na G on naming Patrick Fox man of the match
Fantastic achievement.
Some implosion by Crokes after the penalty. All the composure was with Columba's. Everything Crokes could do wrong, they did do wrong!

Has indeed and whatever he does with Cavan seniors he will forever remembered for this huge achievement today. Great day for Longford football. Well done to Columba's full deserved that win they simply wanted it more.
Ah fair play to Mullinalaghta, that's an amazing win. The club is alive and well.
But we lose our Manager for the McKenna Cup and hopefully the start of the league. Well done. Not a cow milked around Granard.
Well done to St Columba's. Serious achievement for a small club.
That's just a brilliant win, they won so many 50/50s but struggled to score reflecting their superior possession. Tidy penalty and Crokes imploded.
What is it with cavan men managing in longford. In 1968 cavan legend Mick Higgins was manager when they won their 1st and only Leinster senior title and now Mickey Graham has taken a team that hadn't won a longford senior title since 1950 and won 3 in a row plus an incredible Leinster against 1/5 giant club of kilmacud crokes. Incredible. Thank God we snapped him up to work some magic in breffni park. But today is longford and mullinlaughta day. Well done to all involved.
There won't be a stolen car or van chopped up in Granard this week.
Congrats to the men from the half parish

He is a manager not player. Cavan wouldn't be losing him for McKenna Cup or League. He will just be extra busy with 2 jobs.
Well done to Mullinalacghta and Mickey.

Huge intensity in the tackles and two fully committed teams made the turn over count high. For a low scoring club game played in December i have to say i enjoyed that competitive game.
Well done to Mullinalaghta. Its wasn't a total out of the blue type win as this team has won 3 in a row county titles and have number of good county players across the spine of their team.
I'm a proud Larry after that game.
Enjoyable game, the intensity creating the spectacle rather than the quality, no team likes it up them and Crokes certainly didn't. What about that penalty, I fully expected him to fill his pants! Great scenes at the end.
End of the feel good / fairytale factor tho, fully expect a Dr Crokes v Corofin final.

What makes the penalty even better was that it wasn't even their usual penalty taker accordingly to Graham, as he was carrying a knock. He said he asked before the game who would fancy it, and Rogers put his hand up. Some pressure to take a penalty like that at such a crucial stage when you don't normally take them, but he absolutely nailed it.

The AI Semi final is a long way off and the momentum from today's win will be mostly lost but they will probably need that time to fully recover the celebrations they are currently having. No harm to write them off though as it worked very well for them in this Lenister championship.
Love to see it but forewarned is forearmed and all that jazz. They're available at 9/1 for the overall if you fancy them.
Corofin 11/10
Crokes 13/8
Gweedore 11/2
Mul 9/1
PP odds
Fairy-tale stuff today but the gap in club football is always smaller at club then county.
Much the better side won on the day and it was great to see a small club winning it. I don't think they'll care about the AI Semi at this point they'll be written off anyway but it's unlikely Dr Crokes will be as naive as Kilmacud today.
Crokes played like a team that just expected to win unfortunately and unfortunately team managers can only do so much in terms of complacency.
Crokes should have been warned after Rathnew turned over Vincent's last year. That's two years in a row a certain amount of the hype beforehand has ensured a defeat for a Dublin side.
The Dublin championship has been average quality the last two years and there is no reason why any Dublin club should feel that the Leinster championship is a given.
Congrats again to today's victors. Massive achievement. What the GAA is all about.

Well done Mullinyachta... great to see the little guys winning for once.
Missed the game today as I was performing ye Olde Christmas Carols with the choir I'm a member of in Blackrock (or, as Laoislad once described it, signing with me posh mates). I must say this is the greatest day in Longford football since 1968.
Laureleye has been with the Board from the beginning and is a staunch Mullinalaghta man so I am delighted for him - through thin, thinner and even thinner times him and his club have now reached the top in Leinster. Had someone said this to me 5 years ago I would have said they were mad.
I predicted a Mullinalaghta - Croke final ages ago. I knew Mullinalaghta could win it outright. Just didn't want to say it and fcuk up their chances. They have the right mixtures of skill and doggedness to get to the very top. They have shown this in Longford for 3 years now and have beaten good teams like Abbeylara, Killoe and Mostrim(!) consistently.
Here's to them v the Kerry Dr. Crokes in the New Year. Will hurt Longford's 2019 League but what the hell. Pack the team with Dromards and Edgeworthtowns and Abbeylaras. We'll be grand.

Well said SS and my own hearty congrats to board stalwart Laureleye. Smiled to myself with the recent media coverage that I was already well acquainted with "the half parish" etc thanks to Laureleye on this board. Just a tremedous acheivement and result. This is what the GAA is about. Not the big days in Croke Park with jets flying overhead and soft seats and 7 course meals. That stuff is great but this is the real thing.

How can you have an employee of Dublin GAA refereeing this game?
Is Gough working for the Dublin county board?
GAA development officer in DCU and St Pats and runs Cuman Na mBunscol
That a joke. Why did Columbas not object to him referring? He gave everything to Kilmacud Crokes. Is he involved with a club in Dublin?
We had no complaints.
Fair enough. I don't think the GAA should be using referees who have a strong connection to one county like that.
Congrats
He has reffed loads of games involving Dublin the last couple of years. It's a bit like the Croke Park is a neutral venue argument.

Thanks to all for the good wishes :)
Well done to you sir, enjoy.
I am sorry that other posters are ruining the thread with Anti-Dublin bias.
Best of luck in the semi.

Congratulations laureleye. Some feeling winning a big one! Burst it out now and make CP on the 17th!
Someone talked about Kilmacaud Crokes not having enough "devilment". Be prepared as Dr Crokes have that in spades lol.
Yet the recent weekends have been just what the club championship has ideally been about for most of its nearly 50 years of official history – not necessarily David sling-shooting Goliath (although that as well) but the sense of a great honour being shared around, with only a small minority of clubs able to regenerate and challenge on a regular basis.

In Leinster, for instance, only three counties have yet to win a provincial club football title, Louth, Kilkenny and Wexford – ironic given that the All-Ireland trophy is named after the late Castletown and Wexford footballer Andy Merrigan, whose club donated the eponymous cup.
That ideal sends a specific message. Somewhere around the country are club catchments which without explanation or warning fire up a generation of particularly talented players – or in Mullinalaghta's case a critical mass of male children.
Painstakingly developed and nurtured, they may grow to give their community a place in the spotlight that reflects pride on all concerned, fires the imagination of local children, and intensifies bonds with those from home scattered elsewhere on this island and planet.
The spotlight will inevitably move elsewhere, but its glow will bathe each parish and half-parish that it touches in perpetuity.

exactly
these wins give every small area in Ireland the right to believe anything is possible
Mullinalaghta national school is barely able to field a team at the moment due to low numbers, so these things can definitely be cyclical
