And Sean Dyche lucky that Everton have no money to sack him. 1 win in 15 games is atrocious form.

The broadcasters must hate it!

Yeah its hard to beat a back 9 meltdown at one of the Majors. Never looked likely from Scheffler.

Maybe next year for Rory.

The wind is making things very difficult for everyone.

Liverpool have a right good chance in the league now if they do go out. Ideal scenario will be Arsenal and City to meet in the champions league semi in a few weeks.

I am nearly tempted to stick a tenner on them to still win the Europa. They have been creating loads of chances and if they get an early goal in Italy, Atlanta could shit the bed. Depends if Klopp thinks they'd be better chasing it or turn their attentions to the winning the league.

16 and 17 were the holes that could have turned it from an ok start to a good start. He has to be making those putts on 16 and then bogey on 17 rubbed salt in the wounds. Level par for the Par 5s probably wasn't in the plan either. At least he's not out of it but Scheffler looks very good.

Tiger going along ok though 23 holes today could take its toll.

Raya definitely took the goal kick when he heard the refs whistle and not passing it across for Gabriel to take it.

It would have been funny had it been given just for the Arsenal meltdown over it.

Just with that goal kick incident - what is the thinking behind Gabriel taking it and passing it to Raya as oppossed to the goalkeeper just doing the same? Obviously its some nuanced coaching brilliance that a mere mortal like me doesn't understand. I see United doing the same thing too.

Perhaps a mix of trials and actual performances would be a better system to pick the team. Omagh are back to back MacRory and Hogan Cup winners and have had 1 all star in the last 2 years. Daly and McCullagh missing out on all stars shows the current system doesn't work.

Quote from: RedHand88 on April 09, 2024, 11:10:22 AMI will add I don't understand the too many games argument either. So what if a county team plays 6 games in 6 weekends or whatever, wouldn't this be standard at club level? It's not like teams are being asked to play multiple games a week. Is 1 game a week over a few months too much?

I agree with this. For example Tyrone if they were to make the All Ireland final via winning Ulster (I know I know highly unlikely but not impossible) they would play 9 matches in 15 weeks from 21st April to 28th July. Is that excessive? They played 8 matches in the same number of weeks in the old system in 2008 though I appreciate they would have had a longer break between league and championship but would have been playing club football in that break.

Quote from: yellowcard on April 09, 2024, 09:11:02 AMEvery post match GAA interview must begin with 'sure lookit'.

For GAA pundits, it's deemed essential to insert terms such as pockets of space, backdoor cut, game time, transition in order to appear more sophisticated.

And for the administrators the use of the term stakeholder is an absolute must.

I thought the 'lookit' was always a Malachy O'Rourke/Monaghan players thing.

Backdoor cut annoys me too in fairness.

I'll go for Rahm back to back. Though would love to see Rory win it.

I see Stephen Watson has got his annual week away to Augusta from BBC NI anyway.

With no
Hampsey
McKernan

Cormac Quinn
Meyler

Kilpatrick
Darragh Canavan
O'Donnell
Ciaran Daly ( one of our best players this season)
Is pretty much football death wish

Yeah Dublin at full strength apart from Cluxton, Fitzsimons, John Small, Gannon, McCarthy, Paddy Small, Costello, McCaffrey, Bulger and Mannion only got the last 20 minutes.

Apart from Morgan and a bit of credit for R Canavan for plugging away despite hitting a right few wides, no one came out of that looking well today. A few probably played their last bit of football for the year for Tyrone.

Quote from: Armagh18 on March 05, 2024, 03:47:37 PMDon't forget  that on many occasions such as Antrim Club games or home national league games the stadium will run at a loss. I read some where that Croke Park needs to sell C. 60,000 tickets to break even.

Bit of a myth that one.

QuoteMany had been led to believe that the GAA required a crowd of 30,000 in Croke Park to financially break even on the day but this school of thought was rubbished by the association's stadium and commercial director Peter McKenna in Michael Moynihan's GAAconomics.

"That's an urban myth. It costs between €40,000 and €120,000 to open the stadium and we often open it at a loss. The break-even figure? For the smallest crowd, it would be €30,000 so 10,000 people paying €3 each, or €5,000 paying €6 each would do it."

You've mixed my reply up there with someone else can you edit there please?

You said you read it was 60000 tickets to break even at Croke Park. I replied with a quote outlining that that was incorrect. No mix up on my part there.

And probably tell them about the last home game - a 5-0 defeat by Brighton. Or maybe the home game before that - a 5-0 defeat by Villa.

As you say living the dream. . .

Weird take on it. Whats the point in trying to get promoted at all then?

I'm not saying there's no point I'm just saying being in the Premier League isn' t the be all and end all that Sky like to protray for football fans. Its not that controversial a take to be honest.
