Was in Spain during the week, you need to show the EU Digital Covid cert or complete the same passenger locator form that was needed earlier in the year

Lads would a bike with Tiagra be plenty for someone who has no interest in becoming a MAMIL 😜but would like to build up to 2 or 3 hour rides?
Very little in stock at the moment anywhere but I did find a Trek Domane AL4 in a shop nearby.
My current bike is a cheap budget job from Halfords that is about 15 years old and it's a heap of shite and about 2 sizes to big for me,so anything really would be an upgrade.
Don't plan on getting mad into cycling like you boys but I'm finding it great for cross training with the running I do. The Grand Canal is literally beside where I live and there are works ongoing to have a towpath all the way to the Shannon and the Royal Canal is a couple of miles away and that stretches all the way from Maynooth to Longford, I'd imagine that's where I'd be 99% of the time and maybe doing a few laps of the Phoenix Park also. Wouldn't see myself going out on main roads or in group rides or anything.Other than that I'd have it attached to a Kickr Core on Zwift.
With that in mind is Tiagra plenty for my needs?
Also found a Giant Contend AR1 that has 105 and is about €300 more.
Right so I ended up buying a Canyon Endurace.
Was a bit wary buying a bike from Germany online as if it comes damaged it's a long way to send it back. Hasn't come yet but they sent a payment link yesterday so hopefully it comes in next couple of weeks. Anyone any experience of buying from Canyon?

I've a Canyon TT and I love it. Was going to buy a high end Canyon road bike earlier this year but it was out of stock for too long but they're great bikes.

Pm me if you have any issues with it or questions, am only over the road!
Cheers.
You have some collection of bikes!
When's your Ironman?

Am maxed out for space! 1st one this year next Sat

Monaghan going to take some heat off Dublin or adding to it?

Seems they'd a full training session at the Bantys home club. Book couldn't be fired hard enough at him in fairness.

When Banty was Meath manager  the Meath team would train in Monaghan in club jersies during the close season. It's not a new development for them.

Fine and bans is fair and just.

100%, I expect a hefty punishment up to expulsion from the league.

Lots of whataboutery from the Dublin unionists.

The kings of whataboutery all come from you know where

When Down and Cork were caught training the GAA also announced that a 3rd Leinster county had been caught. Why were they never named🙄🙄🙄🙄

The 3rd Leinster county wasn't Laois or Dublin and are well known for pissing away all their advantages and blaming others.

Two leading counties from you know where held a challenge game last weekend. Everyone else is at it, why should Dublin not be?

Another Leinster county renowned for skirting collective training bans in the past using spurious charity vehicles were also collectively training.

Yawn, move on.

Name them then?

Or just throw out names to build a defence?

The truth will out..honestly who gives a fook?

This COVID-outrage is boring, every week there is a new bogey man. The challenge match story will come out.

Did he actually play corner back? There was a Peadar Andrews who played in defence

Yeah played all 2008 at Corner back starting with the game v Tyrone under lights in the league.

His older brother Peadar played half back apart from that time v Meath in 99 I think when Carr put him on Ollie Murphy at corner back and got roasted

Another Leinster county who used to be fond of the off season white collar boxing/any excuse to train collectively in the off-season, at it too?

Hard to believe he started off as a corner back

He didn't, he was always a forward and made his debut under Pillar at 1/2 forward.

Gilroy tried him in his first year at corner back along with Bastick @ full back

I see Terry Hyland has retired Emlyn Mulligan!

Seems like Hyland didn't take to kindly to him walking away from the panel last summer. Reading his interview today, he's not retired but knows he won't play for Leitrim again until a new manager is in place.

He announced his retirement then he expected to not contact the manager to make himself available but for the manager to go cap in hand to him?

Hold up. You state that you can't do the basics because the money is tied up in the senior team, and if they struggle, you have less money, so proportionally more has to go into the senior team.

Thats the business model of a league of Ireland club that went bust in the 60's after two seasons.

What do you mean by can't do the basics? Mayo have 4 full time coaches and that's all that can be afforded with the current GD funding being received. Brolly is proposing to spend ~€280k per year on 8 coaches with no guarantee where the money comes from.

The senior team largely pays for itself. Go far in the championship and more commercial/fundraising money comes in, get knocked out early and less money is spent.

Sigh. I'll type it slowly.

You cant afford coaches to go out and spread the games, but you can afford to spend what is by a distance the most that is spent  on an individual team. And this spending is conditional  on the the income generated by team going a certain distance. If they don't you cant pay the bills. That is by definition unsustainable.

The most Spent by a considerable distance, I'm not sure if that's accurate but there needs to be context added to such a statement. Two years ago there was twenty panel members living in Dublin , I assume that figure hasn't changed much , do you realize how much more expense that adds to the yearly bill compared to the polar opposite of say Dublin who would very few if any based outside the county . There is much more to consider , logistics are a fuc ing nightmare.
Every county has players based in Dublin. Thats not it.

It's not what? Travelling expenses amounted to €927,444 in 2019.

Does that include the training camp in NY post game in Gaelic park?

Paul Flynn really can't be the sharpest knife in the drawer if he can't see how flying dozens and dozens of people over to the US every year looks terrible, when there are clubhouses up & down the country without running water, hot showers, proper dressing rooms, enough equipment etc etc

All Star trips and the annual team holiday for AI winners are one thing. I don't think anyone has a problem with them. At least I don't. But spending truck loads of money on junkets (with loads of hangers on) to play a bastardized version of hurling that serves no purpose whatsoever, does not sit well with people.

The money could be better spent elsewhere, whether it's their own money, the GAA's or the sponsors. If he can't see that, it's a damming inditement of just how out of touch with reality he & the rest of the GPA are.
I don't think the GPA ever pretended to have anything to do with anything other than intercounty players.

I know that.

But the wider population are ordinary rank and file GAA club members. They are the ones who see how hard life is at grass roots level. They are the ones who have a problem with all these US junkets & they are the people Paul Flynn doesn't seem to understand having a problem.

Fair play for admitting that Beffs. It's plain old mindless begrudgery! Who do these fookers think they are swanning off to New York where Irish Americans give give them a load of dosh.

Instead what should be done, is a random draw among all club members where 60 players from around the country are picked to go to the US to play a match where the yanks can pay $80 a ticket and thousands for dinner to meet these great club people.

And all the excess proceeds can go to the list of clubs that Beffs is going to tell us about that don't even have running water.

What a marvellous idea. I'm sure it's a winner.

It is amazing how begrudgery makes people forget to switch on their brains

I don't think anyone has an issue with IC players travelling and playing the exhibition games.

It's more than people in the travelling party who don't seem to have a particular reason for being there - see my previous post.

I do, in the absence of an explanation as to where the money goes

The players will get a daily allowance I'd suggest and I'm basing that on what we got when travelling to NYC when they were in the old Ulster hurling championship, but I'd hazard it's a lot more than the $40 a day I got back in the noughties.

International rules daily allowance was €100 a day back in the early 00's
