When the Hong Kong authorities were gassing and hammering lumps out of the students and protestors there over a change in their laws, the UK, US and loads of other countries were very publically voicing their concerns over their treatment.

US do this to their own people and it's an internal matter.

The rioters and lotters are wrong and the police have every right to protect properties but the likes of the peaceful demonstrations outside the Whitehouse getting gassed off the streets was on the same level as what happened in Hong Kong.
It also begs the question: what do you do when it has been categorically shown that peaceful protest does not work?

Fair question.

I doubt if anyone has an answer.

Trump and the conservative world had a collective fit over Kapernick. They just didn't want to hear about it.

There were plenty of peaceful demonstrations after various mass murders in the US over the past decade. They achieved just about zero. And when politicians talk about taking action after any one of these mass murders, we're told "now is not the time to be "politicizing" a tragedy".

I would say get out and vote, but the system is so gamed towards the GOP on a national level that the Democrats basically have to have a wave election victory with a large popular vote margin to get anywhere.

The racist's only response to far right agents provocateurs imploring for violence is "Ha ha".

Sure puts to lie his claims to not want violence.

Pond scum like him revel in violence. As long as he doesn't get hurt. I suppose when you never leave your bedroom it's easy to avoid it.

Little wonder that Trump lovers like "Whitey" love violence. Trump was up front that riots disaster and chaos were exactly what he wanted.

"You know what solves it? When the economy crashes, when the country goes to total hell, and everything is a disaster, you'll have riots to go back to where we used to be when we were great".

The Nazis were socialist BTW.

Yet they despised communists.

They despised the Bolsheviks because of the Jewish background of some of the Bolshevik leadership. After that it was basically rivalry between competitors.

I don't think anyone would try to deny the totalitarian similarities between the Hitler and Stalin regimes.

That doesn't make the founding principles of socialism/communism and fascism/Nazism the same.

I've little doubt that the presidential election will be a fix and Trump will "win" again.

Watch HBO's documentary "Kill Chain - The Cyber War On America's Elections". It's terrifying.

Jennifer Cohn is worth a follow on Twitter on the issue.

He's an old guy......they'd refer to him as a swamp yankee

I wouldn't be surprised if he's outside his house with a Trump sign yelling abuse at them as they pass by

lots of towns here in northern California boarded up and police and fire departments on alert for looters . Here's the thing if gangs of these guys want to loot now and think they will get away with it what's stopping 20 car loads of them doing it in six months from now or a year . Unfortunately there is only one answer to that .

I hadn't heard of that term.

I've a few older loudmouths around me where I live too, but I don't get into political stuff with neighbours. Would rather keeps thing polite, civil and friendly.

Some of the replies on here would make you laugh. What the police officer done was wrong and he should and will be punished for it.
I can understand the protests, these people are well entitled to protest. HOWEVER, once the rioting and looting starts then these people deserve all they get. The USA is at breaking point, and the president needs to get some law and order back, and if this means shooting these idiots who are looting then so be it. These people are using the death of this young black man as an excuse to cause havoc and for their own personal gain. Although i do not always agree with Mr.Trump, i have to agree with him on this one. Its time to get these thugs under control before they burn these cities to the ground

These people were using injustice and discrimination as an excuse to cause havoc and for their own personal gain. Although i do not always agree with Brian Faulkner, i have to agree with him on this one. It was time to get these thugs under control before they burned these cities to the ground

This "Whitey" character claims to be from Mayo, doesn't he?

Must be a descendant of Captain Boycott.

That'd be ironic, now that I'm boycotting him. I suggest everyone else do the same.

I would strongly suggest mods ban him from the thread. He seems to have spent every waking hour of the last four years on it, and hasn't produced a single post of good faith or substance in that time. I'm not sure how evidence of somebody being a troll the mods need, but they had enough years ago.
