A Zenit St Petersburg official has told the Associated Press that Andrei Arshavin's move to Arsenal could fall through as the player and club have been unable to agree the repayment of a signing-on fee. Hearts in mouths for Arsenal fans.

Strange as I never really got excited about this. He just seemed like a short-term stopgap in the mould of Fabregas and Rosicky until they were back. Where would he have fitted with Walcott, Nasri, Fabregas, Rosicky, Diaby and Denilson all parading in that area? Pumping any dough into a Flamini deal would've been more in our line.

Anyway I just think he's a smashing player, thought he was great in the UEFA cup final and his performances for Russia in the Euro's confirmed this. Don't really think Arsenal need a defensive midfielder, centre half yes definitely.
