Has Wenger changed his first name to Mr?
MWWSI 2017

ONeill

Yes sorry - pre the current side and post Mr Rioch.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Dinny Breen

What's Terry Neill up to these days? Could he bring back the glory days?

ONeill

Arsenal out of the blocks like a well oiled greyhound again.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

ONeill

Frustrating to watch. Wenger's teams always try to play lovely football, this team included. This side simply doesn't have the quality to make it sing. Can still hammer teams on their day but so many promising moves are ruined by the lack of quality in and around the box.

Glory days  ;D   the one glory day under Terry - winning a FAI cup final.
And lest I forget, the one man Liam Brady show, away to Juve in the late 70's.

Very late 1970s, after the 1980 lost 2 Finals.

Perhaps, losing a cup final in the old days was regarded as a glory day? ;D

From the Bunker

Ah, the FA Cup was a real competition in those days. Not something you played your reserve team in when meeting 2nd, 3rd and non league sides. It was a Trophy worth winning. Now it's a Trophy that is useful if you win another Trophy - and complete a double or a treble. Teams near the top see it as a hassle to stop them winning the league or finishing in the top 4. Teams near the bottom are more concerned with relegation.

Don't forget the glorious defeat to Valencia in the 1980 European Cup Winners Cup final! A proper European comp not like this airy fairy champions league....

As the hopeful bid to sign David Villa has bitten the dust, Arsene does not believe that the transfer chequebook exists for the short term, satisfying fans with false hope.

"When you speak about 'anyone' coming in, I could go out and buy someone just to give people hope. What is important is that you bring in players who can strengthen your team, or you do nothing and are strong enough to do nothing.
"That is what is important for us, to bring in a player who can strengthen the squad. 'Anyone' to me means exactly what the modern game has become. As numbers we have enough. We have plenty of quality strikers."

When it comes to "anyones" I think Arsene knows what he's talking about, from bitter expensive experience.

ONeill

Massive game tomorrow.

Hopefully the new signings will do the business.
