QuoteThanks for the bellylaugh BC!    Are ye sure the 'fat' is in the right place in the sentence there?

Billy I am deeply offended.  I am just well rounded and big boned :P

No full back, I was always the devastingly skillful attacking midfielder/forward, and a consummate liar too ;D

At county level because of the even standard of players on a squad, they cannot get away with messing around as much as a club team.  Also there generally is a good bit more maturity on a county sqaud and therefore less of a need for drink bans.  At club level because of the different age groups involved then there is a greater spread of maturity in general terms.  It is harder to ask a young buck who has been a minor star not to go out on the lash with his mates of his own free will than it is to say to a seasoned player.  But lets face it it is only an amatuer game and players have lives outside of the game.  I am lucky that my wife has always respected my desire to be successful and therefore has made social sacrifices with me but not all girlfriends are the same.  A bit of respect and a bit of give and take between the players and management can go a very long way.

QuoteIgnoring the fact that Ulster is the centre of the universe,

You see Billy, this thread was for the most naturally gifted in the last 20 years and we all know football only began whenever Down beat the meath dogs in 1991 ;)

Anyroads, Matt Connor, maurice fitz, Canavan, fat Corkery, and myself in my pomp ;D

Cork players are no different to any successful team in that they have a strong sense of being the best.  There is nothing wrong with that. b I have stood in many dressing rooms and heard a variety of managers shouting at me and other players that the team we are playing are losers, that they are not as good as us, that the sight of our jersies scares them, that being from Crossmaglen makes you a bigger, better, fitter player.  It is all dressing room psychology and it helps get that bit extra out of a player. It is nto disrespectful to other teams as you can be rest assured that their manager is doing the exact same.  To be the best you have to believe you are the best and you cannot switch that on and off once you walk off the field.  The confidence grows with you and if people see it as arrogance well, so what!

The other thing which should be factored in is that this book was written to sell copies and not to make any philisophical insight into life.  The ghost writer, Shannon, I think, would obviously put some spin on anything that Corcoran said to give the book the extra bit.  Shannon writes for The Tribune, Sweeney for the Indo, maybe a wee bit of professional jealousy at play as well.

We met twice in the Ulster championship.  In 1996 we played them in Clones and the build up was mad.  there were stories on men from Blaney going into pubs and laying massive bets on the counter and being matched.  The whole thing was spiced up by the fact that a lot of the players knew each other as we all socialised in Blaney at the weekends and there were a lot of relationships between people from the two areas eg Jim McConville is married to a Blaney woman who played  at the time for the faughs camogs/footballers. The craic was great and we all socialised after the game together.  The second game in 2000 was like that too but with bit more needle as we had beaten them easily in the first game.  They gave us the worst trimming we ever had at any level and it was a tough one to be involved in.

Over the bar, shut your mouth >:(

Have no links Donagh just many interesting facts and anecdotes lodged somewhere in the recesses of my brain.  A few pints of guinness are a great way to release them :P

Joe, I will not say what age he is other than to state he was in my class in school and I am 31 in a few weeks and I was one of the younger ones of us ;)

Nothing per se, bucket, it is just that the grief that has previosly been given out to Ulster posters about multiple threads and Myao just sort of slip under the radar.  I am not referring to Mayo hurling a la McGeeney, just simply to make the point that we have chips on our shoulders in the north about criticisma dn we wished the chips were shared out to other offending counties.

Moderator, like the old thread merging trick on the Ulster thread, now put all them mayo ones in the one box too ;)

the gael would you ever fcuk off and crawl back into that hovel that you call home and stop polluting this board.  You may be genuine you may be a wind up merchant but one way or the other your nonsensical jabberings bring a disjointedness to this board.  If you ever played football, or managed a team, or were more than just a f**king gobshite you may be listened too but your silly, skitter inducing bullshit is turning an already crowded board into a f**king mess.  Go have a good yank on yer chain or punch your heifer, just go away!

Bud, fair enough about there being a lot of northern orientated threads.  there shouldn't be Ulster championship threads, but each county should have their own thread if they want.

Take off your blinkers and look west young man, 3 threads from Mayo alone, the club football thread, the mayo manager thread(on and on and on and on) and now the Mayo Hurling thread.  FFS MAYO HURLING!!!

Now everyone is entitled to an opinion but this is taking the piss if you follow your logic.

I didn't get to see th Cross game but on all the reports that I have read they seemed to be a cut above Mullahorn.  What was very interesting from my point of view was that of the staring 15 and the subs that came on, only 4 have been involved in all the AI, with only Donaldson and Clarke being the only additions who are near or over the 30 mark.  9 of the team are under 25 and 2 of the subs that came on are 22-23.    They might find it harder against the more established teams like Errigal or Ballinderry but I hope they can keep the run going.

Passedit

I think it is a bit late now.  It was an arsehole of a thing to do and scooby should be punished.

BTW I like the avatar and the signature.  Don't tell me she has started hiding them now as well?  You really shoud take the hint.

Are you all stupid or something?  They had a bad game yesterday and this happens. They have been on a decent run and lets face it Arsenal are a pretty damn good team.  Trophies are given out in April and May and while I don't expect them to win the League they are progressing.  Get some persepctive ffs.

My wee lad loves scooby doo and I think your are more like the cartoon character than a real person.

Best of luck in the replay slim.  Have a stormer, win the game , set up the re-match from a few years back, and then have a stinker against us ;)  Only kidding.  Enjoy the run and make the jersey your own.
