Going to see Status Quo on Friday and my young fella is coming from Dublin to meet me. He's working so he'll be tight for time. Anyone know roughly what time bands usually go on stage in the SSE? Doors say 6:30, but that's no indication of when they'll come on. I don't want him going off the road en route  :)

After Mayo's victory over Galway today threw Derry a chance, albeit a slim one, of a final place and with Donegal not out of the relegation zone just yet, this has the makings of an interesting tie.
Will Cassidy continue with his experimentation policy or will he go for broke in the hope that Kerry will dispatch Galway and try to sneak a final place?
Rarely any love lost between the 2 sides, but I fancy Doherty and Donegal with more to lose to give their all to ensure div 1 football next year. Derry wont make it easy on them, by any means... should be a good un

General discussion / Another software question
March 15, 2009, 04:39:51 PM
Sorry folks, this topic has probably come up before. I've tried converting video from a camcorder on the pc. I can view it with quicktime on the pc, but if i burn it to dvd I cant get anything only audio through on the telly. If I want to try other formats, quicktime directs you to buy a version of their software and being a miserable f##cker, i dont wanna do that. Is there any free software out there thats safe to download and will allow you to burn the video in various formats?

Cheers in adavance.

General discussion / Skynyrd's Billy Powell Dead at 56
January 30, 2009, 11:20:35 PM
Billy powell died on wednesday and I know this isn't a music forum, but as an absolute skynyryd fanatic I just want to pay tribute to an absolutely innovative rock  musician on a site that's not solely american. I know that every paddy that ever headbanged to sweet home alamba or freebird would want to know that the virtuoso that played on those songs has passed and gone to join the rest of the tragic lynyrd skyryrnd members who have gone to the other side.  ' I must be travelling on'http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=u_vmW0AVZ0o

I know there's mixed opinions on the interpros, personally I've always thought that they threw up some greatly enjoyable clashes. The annoucement that the semi finals are to take place in Dungarvan and Kiltoom, coupled and the timing, couldn't do more to highlight headquarter's disdain for the competition. I think its a shame that a competetion so popular among the players is not only being allowed to die, is being actively throttled by croke park.

'Interpro finals taken out of Croker
17 September 2008

The GAA have announced the dates and fixtures for the Interprovincial football and hurling championships, with the finals no longer set to take place in Croke Park.

The semi-finals in both competitions take place on Saturday 25 October with Fraher Field in Waterford hosting the Munster against Ulster games in both codes. Kiltoom in Roscommon is the venue as Connacht take on Leinster in both football and hurling.

The two finals will then be played as a double header under floodlights in Portlaoise seven days later on Saturday 1 November. Last year the two deciders returned to Croke Park for the first time in a number of years and with a high profile marketing campaign along with a reduced ticket price of Eu10, it was hoped that a big crowd would fill the stadium.

Even though the attendance of 10,127 was way up on finals in recent years, the fact that there were 72,000 empty spaces in the stadium is bound to have played some part on the decision to move the games to a provincial venue this year.

The timing of the games has also come into question, as they take place while the Irish International Rules squad is touring Australia. Martin Donnelly, who has sponsored the competition, has stated that such a clash can only weaken the tournament.

"It wouldn't make much sense playing it at the same time because you would be without many of the top footballers for a start," said Donnelly during the summer.

The fixtures in full are:

Saturday 25 October

GAA Interprovincial Hurling Championship semi-finals
Fraher Field 2.00pm Munster v Ulster
Kiltoom 3.30pm Connacht v Leinster

GAA Interprovincial Football Championship semi-finals
Fraher Field 3.30pm Munster v Ulster
Kiltoom 5.00pm Connacht v Leinster

Saturday 1 November

GAA Interprovincial Hurling Championship final
Portlaoise 6.00pm Munster/Ulster v Connacht/Leinster

GAA Interprovincial Football Championship final
Portlaoise 7.45pm Munster/Ulster v Connacht/Leinster

GAA Discussion / Kerry Vs Derry
February 28, 2008, 07:26:59 PM
Not a lot of talk about this one. Is there just no interest or is it simply considered a foregone conclusion?
