COC V Dublin, all tight games
2012 - 0-7
2013 - 0-8
2015 - 1-9
2015 - 1-6
2016 - 0-7 (Including the kick on the buzzer to draw)
2016 - 0-9
2017 - 0-7
2019 - 0-3

This narrative that Cillian only does it against Sligo and Leitrim is a joke, that's close to an 8 point average, by Sunday he'll have played 15% of his games against Dublin.
Even I'm surprised to see that his average score versus Dublin (7.75) is higher than his championship scoring average versus the remaining counties (7.12)

I usually only listen to the football as well. To be fair their Monday shows with Cian Ward are always enjoyable as he is an excellent analyst

Cian Ward is awful. Only worse pundit is Ger Brennan.

Have to say I like Cian Ward. Agreed Ger Brennan is horrific

Was the sound engineers fault... both Wooly and Brennan's reputations are in tatters how can Laois keep Brennan on after that??

Proprietors of Joe.ie facing fraud allegations too not a good look!

What's the fraud allegations?

That's the worst I've see the Rossies play in a long time. No game plan at all, we had it all our own way. Wouldn't read too much into it

Don't believe missing the Sligo game will make one difference to Galway. It's an advantage if anything, chance to rectify the shambles that was Tuam
Seriously have you played championship football before - at club level I mean?
Going into a game cold is absolutely of zero benefit.
I'd much prefer to play three weeks on the bounce if I was a player

Not sure what me playing championship football has to do with it

It will suit Galway a lot better to be planning for Mayo for three weeks rather than having to deal with little more than a challenge match against Sligo

And FWIW I've a senior county and provincial club medal  8)

There's a guy in my club has one, worst footballer ever!!

It was more that this galway lad seems to think I need one to have a valid opinion
Not what I meant at all - didn't mean it to come across that way.
Each to their own but genuinely as a player I would have fancied my teams chances a lot less going into a game with no meaningful preparation.
We would have beaten Sligo I have no doubt but we would at least have had a game to blow off some more cobwebs.
It does make a difference in terms of match fitness and sharpness.
No amount of A v B training games can replicate it.

Fair enough, I took that up wrong

The microphone is never off. Ever.

Brennan freely chose to say what he said in a recording studio so is far from blameless. He is a guard so if anyone should get the idea that what you say in a room with a recording device can be used against you he should. Was he not caught up in some controversy about his gob and a tape recording?

But Parkinson is an absolute snake for runnimg with it. And he did, there was no mistake.

He clearly says this is off the record
There is no such thing when being interviewed

What a ridiculous statement

Lots of people will say stuff off the record that they don't want aired. Interviewers agree to that because they want the inside track.
How many people will speak to Wholly now off the record? I'll give you a hint, it's less than one

He's a p***k and always has been. Thick as pig shit as well. Over inflated sense of both his abilities as a footballer and his intelligence. Shit hair too.

He labels himself as the "presenter/producer/researcher" of the show. He can't hide behind wine unpaid intern sound engineer.

100% agree, I dated a girl for a while who ran in the same social circles. Thick as a ditch but thought he was Einstein

He has made it clear that he doesn't like the Laois county board and saw the opportunity to put the boot in and released it.

Coward doesn't even have the decency to accept the blame, says why would he accept the blame for a mistake he didn't make, it's his f**king show

Joe Troy was right, he's a rat

If I was a betting man i'd (honestly) stick 20 on Mayo for Sam this year.

Backed them at 20-1, into 6-1 now, still decent odds, as are Galway

I think if Comer was fit we'd be talking completely differently about this game

" They came considerably closer"

Not sure how much closer you can get than a draw?
Do they add asterisks beside results now to say who had what sent off?

Macdanger is right, nobody has come closer than Kerry in the last three years to beating Dublin

Did you only watch the drawn game and not bother with the replays or something? You consider losing twice by the minimum as further away than losing by 6 points?

I don't believe that they would add an asterisk for that but luckily we're on a GAA forum and not just reading down a spreadsheet of results, so our analysis can be a little bit more nuanced.

The last three Championships being 2017, 2018, 2019. Mayo 2017 were closer than Kerry 2019.

I suppose Trump won the election too?

Hard to argue against lads who chose to ignore facts but sure that's the internet isn't it

I'll leave you to it, good man
