An interesting one, grew up in Dingle. Just won silver for GB.

Are her parents Irish?

How does someone grow up in Dingle and feel British? I must have missed that Orange hall when I was there.
This doesn't sound like a Dingle accent to me.

Maybe she's like Dermot Gallagher. Talks like that to a British interviewer. When RTE come along it's "Yerra, lookit Dizz. Team Gee Bee will be the clear underdog".

And only took it up 6/7 years ago. Why though was she able to finish ahead of a 'career' athlete like Fionnuala McCormack? Was she more acclimatized to the hot conditions?

McCormack gave birth 7 months ago. Has had 2 children from she ran in Rio. 25th in that heat for McCormack given all that wasn't a bad result given the circumstances

She's faster. McCormick is a fantastic athlete but she just doesn't quite have the speed to breakthrough at this level. She has as much character as any athlete I have seen with cross country being her game when it's muddier.

Fear Bun Na Sceilpe

Sinéad Diver as in Tom Daly on rte. They can't get our Ulster surnames right. Couid never pronounce Bonner either .

The Irish forms of the names are often helpful for pronunciation, Bonner being a translation of Mac Cnáimhsí, and Ó Duibhidhir giving a guide to Diver.

Yep 100 percent

StPatsAbu

This farce 'handball' being an Olympic sport is an insult to the art of real handball

laoislad

That was a great fight that was, brilliant from Kellie Harrington.
Gold medal 🥇!!!!!
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Capt Pat

Great fight. A great performance from Kellie and great scenes from Portland Row. To win the fight after losing the first round was really impressive.

weareros

That was as good as you will ever see. She fought brilliantly against a game and cocky opponent. And great scenes from Portland Row.

gerrykeegan

The second round was brilliant. She's a class act.
2007  2008 & 2009 Fantasy Golf Winner
(A legitimately held title unlike Dinny's)

gallsman

Brilliant performance in a really tough fight. Worked her out in the first and picked her off at will in the second and third, knowing she'd have to eat a left hand bomb or two.

Congrats Kellie!

Cunny Funt

Up there with the best ever boxing performances by a Irish person in the Olympics. Well done Kellie
