It's a shame for sure, but if other broadcasters valued the rights enough, they'd be trying to get a package. Sky didn't walk away for no reason.

Ah no, I disagree. Harris shamelessly tried to use the GAA to score a quick and cheap political point. Burns absolutely right to make a tit of him the way he did. Same for Cavanagh. He's simply defending the Association from mud slinging, and doing a terrific job of it.

Then people have to accept that there is a limit to what RTE can or will show. They can't have wall to wall GAA over the course of a weekend, especially if legally obliged to have the two finals from Sunday on.

Quote from: tonto1888 on Today at 07:57:46 AMDenver 3-2 up now after losing the first 2. Will probably go back to back now

Edwards still playing phenomenally for the T-Wolves but that's not enough against this Denver team. KAT and Gobert have been very poor since they went up 2-0. Conley injury didn't help either.

Remarkable comeback from Denver all the same. Hilarious that dropping the first two games coincided with Jokic being named MVP and immediately got used as a stick to beat him with. The guy is already an all time great.

Was pointed out that they're obliged to have provincial finals on TV by law. Would many be crying if the Leinster finals in either code weren't live on RTE to enable them to show some more Munster hurling?

I presume one of them is Chelsea, so almost certainly no.

Quote from: Rufus T Firefly on May 14, 2024, 12:34:15 PMI think the issue was that the subject matter has the potential to be quite emotive - the conflict between needing to raise revenue and at the same time trying to ensure that the product is available to as large an audience as possible.

I thought Cavanagh's approach played on that emotion - the inference of the cold, cash hungry GAA denying many the right to see our games, in their pursuit of money.

It could not go unchallenged and the response was an extremely powerful put down.

This is absolutely the crux of it and what he was implying.

The big deal is that he was wrong, and Burns corrected him. Emphatically.

Seems a few moany Tyronies are a bit touchy about Saint Sean being called out on his nonsense.

They could put it anywhere and people would still act the ****. It's human nature. Could have it in ballsbridge and all the poshos would be coming out of the pubs and doing the same.

That said, corner of North Earl Street definitely a terrible location. Shocked it hasn't been vandalised yet.
Porn videos, images of the twin towers being hit, a woman mooning, kids giving the finger while their parents video and laugh... Not so sure that would happen everywhere.

I'm 99.8% confident it would happen anywhere. Rugby boys don't get their arse out? Horseplay! Kearn-age!

Quote from: Itchy on May 13, 2024, 01:36:59 PMIt does stop a man catching a long ball in and getting swamped by 3 defenders and getting turned over.

Is this what people want to stop?

It's ITVX. Not even broadcast in full HD, never mind UHD.

Crazy that it's the guts of 20 years old and the iPlayer is probably still the single best VOD service going.

Quote from: johnnycool on May 13, 2024, 08:44:00 AMThe Theatre of wet dreams....

I'll get me coat.

But it reeks of owners who've bled the club dry and not one bean of their money will ever be spent on Manchester United.

How can you say that, just the £2.1bn in player acquisitions since they bought the club

And not one bean of it from the Glazers.

That was all revenue generated by Man Utd PLC.

True, but as owners they could have used the cash reserves to pay themselves dividends so it is their money. I dont disagree that they have been shocking owners but it is a case of spending money badly rather than not spending it.

Its the risks of being a plc as United was, there are benefits in terms of access to cash to invest and grow but you are vulnerable to an unwanted owner coming in.

That's the exact point they were paying themselves the dividends at the same time. So instead of redeveloping the stadium and training facilities alongside investing in the playing squad, they choose one.

The money has been invested badly in the playing squad but that comes from not having top quality football people making those calls, you had Ed Woodward with his finance background and no discernible footballing decision making structure.

But they dont care as long as the club keeps making money for them.

Thankfully they have Sir Dave in place to fix all that going forward.

Always buy your own car hire excess insurance. Can get annual policies for 50 quid odd. The car hire company will absolutely gouge you.

Every now and again ITV puts out a really, really good show. They make them so hard to watch though with the quality and ads on ITVX.
