The fall in attendances are actually incredible in the past 5-10 years, there are too many matches with nothing on the line at high prices in an inflation/cost of living crisis.

Dublin are levels ahead of the others for obvious reasons and GAA refuses to address that.

Aside from that supporters are being short changed, the GAA ticketing system is a shambles and prices are ridiculous with so many games. 25 quid to stand in a terrace with no cover in a meaningless group match with no jeopardy, poor football and for many your county has little chance to even compete. GAA Go thing also an issue.

Most people want knockout football, with teams playing others of a similar level at reasonable ticket prices and ability to pay cash at the gate. The groups are a joke.

I think Armagh will win it out, particularly with the draw. They also have more on the line here. I would be questioning if Derry go full tilt at this, meanwhile the Dubs and Kerry stroll to the All Ireland semi finals.

That's fair if it wasn't in a 45,000 stadium. GAA are building bigger stadiums as the crowds dwindle away.

The truth is only a few of the well supported Northern teams that are going well are totally papering over the cracks especially in football crowds.

GAA are getting called out for the lack of tickets for sale outside grounds and only with the multiple apps. Some of us have been saying that for years, it disincentives the elderly. You need to make it as easy as possible to attend matches.

Alarm bells should be ringing with 4k in Pairce Ui Caoimh for Cork in a championship match, thats barely 10% of capacity. Not much point in all the stadiums if you price out and turn off the crowds. The Clones attendance wasn't as bad but I'm not shocked either. What we really need is some journalists etc to put some analysis and stats on the stark decline in attendances in last 5-10 years, whats alarming is it's getting worse not better. Many supporters have thrown in the towel or can't afford it.

For me the tier stuff falls down as there is such a huge gap between Dublin alone now and the others. I reckon it will be a long long time before another team retains the All Ireland that isn't called Dublin.

I'm sure theres a place for it with some, but the money issue at club level would be the thing. Despite the media hype a lot of people now are really struggling with the inflation, cost of living and housing.

A lot of paltry crowds in pubs and GAA stadiums these days, and despair out there. In relation to the question, I think it would be could for both sides but do you think it more applies to youth teams or adult ones?

Dublin is out of control . The system worked as long as Dublin was disorganised. Sports often have this problem of a big population centre or financial centre that is disproportionate to the rest.  In Rugby it's England and France. The solution is to give the 6 teams the same money allocation, not to give England and France the money raised in their countries. 

I don't know exactly how US sport works in detail but they value competition very highly and have drafts to even out teams.

Something is going to have to be done with Dublin but until people demand change nothing will change. This is about power.

Am I correct in saying Meath gave up home advantage as management want to play this game in Croke Park? I think that is not the correct move if so. Also that the game is on RTE?

The Dublin funding disparity and complete domination needs to be faced head on, unfortunately the likes of RTE, Leinster council and even Croke Park HQ are all on the Dublin train and refuse to tackle this issue head on. Not surprising when most of RTE and Croke Park HQ are involved in Dublin GAA clubs.

It's probably a wider issue in the country though, the complete domination of Dublin as the economy of the island and rest left to fend for the scraps, and being run into the ground. As the current government are finding out they looked the other way for too long.

A hard watch so far in Healy Park. Lots of handpassing waiting for the opening.

Agree but contact needs to be allowed by refs too. But yes negative play by both sides with handpasing and possession, low scoring most from frees.

Poor refereeing so far, mostly against Tyrone. It's a contact sport supposedly!

How about stop building these white elephant GAA stadiums and other vanity projects that are not financially viable? The crowds are not there anymore, PUC has probably barely ever sold out and rarely gets a decent crowd all year. Casement the next.

The muck on display in football with fouls every 10 seconds, at increased ticket and streaming prices. Refusal to accept cash and instead using about multiple awkward ticket applications on mobile phones depending on the competitions.

Banty and his outfit own and run a lot of these asylum seeker centres in Monaghan, Cavan, Longford Louth all over the country. Probably in the North too.

Probably has Heather Humphreys on speed dial. A lot of these FF/FG crooks are making hay but the tide is turning on these guys. Don't be surprised if these Asylum seeker landlord companies are made the fall guy or start getting more heat.

Sure why wouldn't he. Had the Corduff team away to Ibiza or somewhere like that last year after they won championship. 

Taxpayer's footed the bill really. Weren't they a bunch of thugs on the field also. He was paying Rory Gallagher, Jim Gavin and Jim McGuinness for training sessions.

Another one re Banty I heard recently he has bought the Creighton Hotel in Clones one of the last bars/hotels left to turn into another asylum centre. That whole town now has majority of migrants between refugees and the meat factory.

I wonder is Banty still the wheeler dealer hero in Monaghan, he surely has pissed off many people.
