I would just like to have a say on a few points up as a Fermanagh fan

The penalty didn't matter, Mayo were on top and would have won the game
- Nonsense, if Fermanagh would have gotten it and went 4 points up with 5 to play would it have been an argument? Goals change games and this had a massive effect on the outcome. I can't say we would have won, but neither can Mayo. Luckily I now know that "we deserve a penalty" based on the new Aiden O'Shea rule, so hopefully we will get that next year if we are getting a tight game

Aiden O'Shea doesn't get frees so he has to make the most of contact
- I honestly can't see where this comes from. After watching him today, its hard to remember when he didn't throw himself to the ground as soon as he wasn't favourite in any situation. He won more frees that he deserved today, and should have been in the stand to be fair. Mayo would have been my 2nd team but the justification for that nonsense turns my stomach to be honest. He cheated, plain and simple. I honestly hope that Mayo get put out of the Championship on a similar decision to see if its as palatable when it happens to them

RTE
- What can you say, an absolute joke. Pretty obvious that someone told them what was happening on social media. Between them they couldn't decide if it was "sportsmanship", "video replays", "honest game of football" or "not worth talking about". Thank heavens for Joe (and who would ever expect to say that), as it wouldn't take him 15mins to gauge the talking point of the game

Fermanagh
- Another game I felt we could have done better. Moral victories are empty at this point, and we need to step up if we are serious. The bench should have been emptied much sooner and we didn't change it when the tide turned

General discussion / Re: Farming.
February 05, 2016, 04:32:01 PM
I work full time and have been left a small farm. Basically I am going to apply for the young farmers add on based on having completed my level 2 course, but I am worried that the extra money coming in along with my salary would push me into the higher tax bracket and leave me getting taxed heavily for what I almost expect to be a cost neutral hobby

With the way the young farmers add on is worded i.e. owning 51%+ of the business, I am wondering should I be registering a company and then doing my tax returns at year end when I can see what the balance sheet is like, and whether I want to reinvest in machinery, animals etc.

Has anyone done this before? How does it work? What are the negatives to the shareholders in the business? Does the business have to own the land, or can I do this as an individual and the animals/machinery are the assets?

Any help or suggestions would be great

Seems to have started solidly enough. Dunno if any of the new panel members have stood out, but its fairly difficult to make an impression when a fair number of team mates are trying to stand out as well

There seems to be a bit of confidence through the spine of the team. The established lads seem a bit more sure of themselves than this stage last season

Has anyone installed a mechanical heat recovery system? Any recommendations for suppliers, or tips to ensure that they do a good job?

Also has anyone installed solar hot water or solar PV panels? Similar to the above any recommendations or do's/don'ts?

Thanks

I might be in the minority but I watched the game back and I don't see all these players who were celebrating getting beaten?? I Have spoken to a few of the players since and they were somewhere between bemused and grateful for all the support and goodwill they had received this year. Obviously they shouldn't have stayed on the pitch and acknowledged their families, club mates, friends and neighbours but they stupidly thought that the GAA had something to do with communities in their uncoached and poorly media trained minds.

Personally I would rather have a team that is able to acknowledge that they lost to a better team, rather than blame fixture scheduling, referee's and every other reason & conspiracy under than sun.  ::)

As a Fermanagh man I am proud of the team doing close to their best (not their best, as I believe there is more to come) but all success is relative and at the end of the day there will be 31 failures of counties in Ireland based on the criteria in this thread, and come the 3rd weekend in September I have no doubt Dublin will be 1 of 31

Very depressing thread for a match between 2 teams with one favourite (when you support the underdog). Happens throughout the GAA every weekend yet Fermanagh are expected to be apologetic about getting there? Think the media have a lot to for answer for as its sickening to listen to all this "winning is all that matters"

Thought this sums up a lot of what Fermanagh people feel listening to the patronising sh!te that most people are speaking http://www.hoganstand.com/Fermanagh/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=241757

Has anyone bought there windows or other materials from abroad? I was chatting someone who was off the opinion that would save 40-60% on the price of windows if you bought from Scandinavian countries or Germany, and there were to a higher insulation standard due to the weather

Can someone tell me how I can watch films or TV shows on a tablet by downloading them (preferably free). I have a cheap tablet and want to download a few things for travelling.

I want to be able to watch them with no wifi connection etc. I'm sure its simple but have no idea how you do it..........  :-\

Have decided I need to give myself a few days after a Fermanagh match before I can comment!  :-X

It was very poor stuff on Sunday, we were nowhere near deserving to sneak that game. I am struggling to find positives in the performance, and almost cannot believe we managed to score as much. The defence was a shambles for massive portions of the game. We kept going for short kick-outs even when Antrim were pushing up on us, to the point where the 2nd Antrim goal was an accident waiting to happen. Then we decided we couldn't go short, and punted them right down the throats of bigger Antrim men with very little traffic around them to prevent clean catches. The forward line until Owens was moved up there were powder puff, and Quigleys free's from the ground were consistently poor, I couldn't understand why he wasn't taking them from his hands when he is well capable of landing them from that distance.
The ref was bad, but didn't affect the outcome. Some of the free's and non-free's were bewildering

General discussion / Re: Car auctions.
April 07, 2014, 03:04:48 PM

It is definitely worth having a look at the auctions. If you can get to England to the British Car Auctions (BCA) or other large auctions there are bargains to be had.
At the lease car auctions you are generally getting a 3 year old car with a full service history. Just do your research about how much the car is worth from a dealer and private, and make sure you understand all the fees/charges that will be added to your winning bid. Try to get there early, and see the cars you want, look over them, and try to hang around when its being started and driven to the bidding area to see/hear how its going. Finally and most importantly, don't spend more than your limit and make sure that limit has a buffer for any problems the car may have

I am glad this has happened now, well before the championship so that this circus can be put on the back burner. I would have said that McGraths handling on the soccer episode would have dented the ego and the fall out was only a matter of time

As someone else said, I would think that that is the end of the county career. It will suit better in all the stories if he never has to do it in the championship or over a sustained period. The country is full of players who will be able to tell you about how good they were, without ever having the evidence to back it up

Shocking but not surprising that Fermanagh seem to think getting a "name" as a senior manager will sort out all the problems. There are a few on the Fermanagh panel at the moment who could benefit from a proper U-21 season to bring them on. As for minors it always seems to be the case of waiting on St Mic's to exit competitions before any underage plan is put in place (* I am not sure if the word has ever been used in Fermanagh for underage development)

General discussion / Projectors
December 10, 2013, 09:10:33 PM

I am building a house and am considering buying a projector for the main living room rather than a large screen TV. I have been looking at the life span of the bulbs which I can live with.
Does anyone own one that can recommend or warn about the down points?
What are good models/makes?
Things to avoid?
Where would you buy one in the North?

Any help is appreciated

I dunno what to make of this, when I heard McGrath I thought originally that they had gotten Marty!  :o It actually took me a few minutes to catch on. I haven't a clue if this is inspired or a catastrophe. I suppose it could have been worse, with some of the rumors, but it is so left field I dunno........

One very confused Fermanagh Fan......
