Can somebody just clear up Reserve Knockout eligibility. I thought it was that if you played in your last Senior championship game then you couldn't play in reserve knockout.

Yeah that's correct.

One of the weekend losers MIGHT have grounds for an objection then.

Care to elaborate/narrow it down? I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who could quickly confirm?

Not the Division 1 final
As only 2 of the finals were played last weekend you seem to be pointing the finger at Drumragh. Anything to back it up?

Didn't name names or clubs as I wasn't 100% sure but it seems that my info may have been off the mark

Fair enough. Reserve Championship always raises queries as so many reserve players are on the bench for the seniors, even if they do not play.

As a related point, I see Drumragh and Owen Roes are down to playoff for the Div 3 Reserve league on Saturday. I think it was raised a few weeks ago but how do you determine eligibility for this?
I always thought that for the league, providing you were not one of the 12 and had not played County Seniors / u21s you were eligible.

I'm sure that would be easy enough to find out if an ineligible player was involved.

I agree - quote the case in question and it will be cleared up pretty quickly...someone has obviously noted a potential discrepancy somewhere!

A player (who had played in league for 1st team) was named on starting 15 for championship but was withdrawn at a very late stage and didn't play. Sorry for getting it wrong but that's why i didn't want to name names until I was 100% sure

You would be eligible, but I'd like to think both teams will remain with the players that got the team to that position rather than stacking it with Senior players. It might be a head ache for the managers to determine who starts tho.

GlenMan

I think the problem is the CCC haven't requested a 'List of 9/12' (players who can't play reserve) in about 3 or 4 years.

Therefore, there is essentially no criteria as to who can play in this reserve playoff.

I didn't think playing in the league made you ineligible, I thought it was only if you played championship!

The list of 9/12 players were mostly full of men in the graveyard

Conleth Gilligan away to Sligo with Corey. Obviously not staying with Coalisland next year, is McKeever going as well? The Coalisland boys will be all out to win against us this weekend then to give their men the perfect send off.

Any other managerial appointments or managerial casualties heard off round the county?

Plenty of vacancies around the loughshore.

Brian McGuigan has stepped down at Ardboe.
Unconquered and unconquerable

Benny Hurl nailed on to replace him.

Jeremiah O

My understanding is that a new management team has already been put together and is awaiting ratification from the committee.

Benny was badly missed this year. They had no one to throw the ball out for quick kickouts and the level of intimidation towards refs was way below the level required

That was very quick work, thought Brian would have stayed another year to be honest...
