Lulu Carroll

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association extends sincerest sympathy to the family of Lulu Carroll, who died over the weekend.

Aged 35 and a member of the Timahoe club, Lulu was one of the most popular figures in Ladies Football and she will be sorely missed.

Helen O'Rourke, the Chief Executive of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association said: "Lulu was a committed servant to Ladies Football at both club and county level and one of the most popular and well known figures in Ladies Football. She will be remembered as a great player lovely person. She battled bravely against illness for so long but always maintained her high spirits throughout. She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her."

Lulu won an All Ireland title with Laois in 2001 and eight Leinster titles. She also won six Senior County championships and one Leinster senior club title with Timahoe.

Lulu won two All Ireland senior 7s titles, one NFL Division 1 and NFL Division 2. Lulu was honoured with an All Star and one replacement All Star during her glittering football career.

In 2007, Lulu was a worthy recipient of the GAA president's award on St Patrick's Day in Croke Park. Although now retired from playing, Lulu was still actively involved in Laois Ladies football and she is a selector with the present Laois team.

Lulu passed away Sunday after a long illness in the loving care of her husband Ozzie, family and friends. She is survived by her husband, parents Michael and Angela, brothers Michael, Damien, Fergal and Enda, sisters Emir, Angie and Brid.
