Is it just me or are the Irish Independent GAA journalist money obsessed. The can't seem to go a few todays without pointing out how much money is been taken in by the GAA. Maybe they should get up off their backsides and go out and get some real stories instead of number crunching behind a desk.

Why should they, their agenda is to bash the G.A.A. and they can do that just as handy sitting behind a desk, or propping up a bar.

easiest thing to do lads is not to buy it or click on it on line as that gives them hits that enables them to get more advertising revenue. I stopped buying it a few years back and have never looked back!
Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

An Independent journalist (not a sports journalist) told me one time that the Indo continually pushed the "rip off Ireland" theme in its journalism as it was "an easy way to fill space". I suspect the same applies to the Irish Indo's fascination with GAA finances, which by the way isn't shared (to anywhere near the same extent) by the much maligned Sunday Indo.

Unfortunately, not buying or reading the Indo isn't really an option for most of us as, for all their faults, they are still probably the best source of national GAA news, a lot better than the sniffy Irish Times or the Cork Examiner, despite the latter's successive name changes.
