FOOTBALL'S coming home for the Manchester United fan accused of
throwing a coin at Man City striker Craig Bellamy.
In fact, it's coming right to his front door.

For Red Devils supporter Adam Teese is feeling the flipside of his
alleged coin attack - with furious City fans bombarding his house with
pranks.

Adam's name and address were released by police after the season
ticket holder was charged with throwing a coin at Bellamy during the
Manchester derby last week.

And within 24 hours, the enraged blue half of Manchester had ordered
him Ł150-worth of pizzas, a skip, rat exterminators and two prostitutes.

The barrage of jokes didn't end there either. City supporters also:
- Requested a visit from an Avon rep
- Signed him up online as a rent boy
- Applied for an Ocean Finance loan for his mum
- Reported a gas leak in the middle of the night so he got a call out
within the hour
- Booked a rep to go and see him about getting an indoor swimming pool
- Ordered him a 4 ft tall Bronze figurine of Winston Churchill on a
14 day trial
- Sent a breakdown truck
- Sent Jehovah's Witnesses round
- Grassed him up for growing drugs at his house
- Grassed him up for being a benefit cheat
- Got him a weekend booking of a 1957 Pink Cadillac complete with
1950's style Elvis dressed chauffer
- Signed up his phone number to receive adult chat
- Ordered him a Daffy Duck bouncy castle and puppet show for his garden
- Ordered squeaky the clown to go and perform for him

Details of the pranks began surfacing on supporters' forums. Despite
later being removed by Man City website Blue Moon, they were still
picked up by other clubs.

This resulted in yet more misery for 26-year-old Adam, who lives with
his parents. But dad Joseph, 55, raged: "We've had no end of trouble
- I've had to take time off work to deal with it." Teese will appear
before Trafford Magistrates on February 9 accused of "throwing a
missile on to the pitch" during the Carling Cup Semi- Final second leg
at Old Trafford.

Mum Deborah insists her son is innocent, adding: "I was sat next to
him and he did not throw anything. We actually had to duck when a
bottle was thrown over us!"

Last night a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Officers are
investigating the incidents."

'Dead' Baby Found Alive At Funeral Wake Enlarge photo

Jose Alvarenga's son was born prematurely in Asuncion, Paraguay, weighing just 500 grams (17.6 ounces).

The infant was pronounced dead on Thursday and officials put the tiny body in a box and took it to his parents house four hours later.

Mr Alvarenga said: "I opened it to look at his remains and found that the baby was breathing. I began to cry."

He hurried back to the hospital where his partner was receiving treatment, and nurses put the baby in an incubator.

The infant is understood to be in a stable condition.

The hospital has said it will carry out an investigation into the incident.

"This is a very unusual case," the head of paediatric intensive care, Ernesto Weber, said.

He said the doctor in charge may not have properly checked the baby.

Other staff at the hospital said they had fought to save the infant's life for more than an hour but the pulse may have been too faint to detect.

My mates a big Liverpool fan and just because Liverpool finished higher in the league he thinks they are automatically a better team than Arsenal.

My argument is Arsenal had the longest unbeaten run, ok they will finish a few points behind in the league but went further in , Champions league, FA  cup and even the Carling cup.....

You decide......And Liverpool fans be honest!

General discussion / Funny Surname's
March 25, 2009, 06:50:57 PM
QuoteThe number of people in Britain with surnames like Cockshott, Balls, Death and Shufflebottom -- likely the source of schoolroom laughter -- has declined by up to 75 percent in the last century. Skip related content
Related content

A study found the number of people with the name c**k shrank to 785 last year from 3,211 in 1881, those called Balls fell to 1,299 from 2,904 and the number of Deaths were reduced to 605 from 1,133.

People named Smellie decreased by 70 percent, Dafts by 51 percent, Gotobeds by 42 percent, Shufflebottoms by 40 percent, and Cockshotts by 34 percent, said Richard Webber, visiting professor of geography at King's College, London.

"If you find the (absolute) number goes down, it's either because they changed their names or they emigrated," Webber, author of the study, told Reuters on Wednesday.

He said that in many cases, people probably changed their surnames as they came to be regarded as in bad taste. "It's because the meaning of words can change. Take the name Daft -- that as a term for a stupid is a relatively recent innovation."

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Daft meant "mild" or "meek" in Old English, whereas it means "foolish" today.

"That's why there are names which people think aren't really very pleasant names and you wonder why they persisted as long as they did."

Webber, whose work can be seen on the website mapyourname.com, got his data for 2008 from credit card firm Experian and mapping service Geowise. He then compared it with the census of 1881.

Webber also discovered that the most popular names in Britain have not changed over the past 127 years. Last year, Smith, Jones, Williams, Brown, Taylor and Davies held the top five spots, in exactly the same order as they did a century ago.

Webber also found that between 1996 and 2008, the names Zhang, Wang, and Yang and experienced the fastest growth. Zhang rose by 4719 percent, while Wang grew by 2225 percent.

General discussion / Artur Boruc...Poland v N.I
March 21, 2009, 09:13:54 AM
Just read paper from yesterday that Artur Boruc will have armed guards when Poland play N.I next week. What's that all about???

Will/should he bless himself at Windsor park next Saturday?

Personally i think he will bless himself at Windsor as he does before every game but in this instance with the way things are at the minute he should do it in the dressing room away from the crowds.

Surely with all the protection he's getting he's bound to know what sort of reaction he's going to get...

I think he should be able to do it if he wants without any sort of reaction but Hope he's the bigger man here and doesn't!

What do you all think?

Hadn't a answer for me but told me he couldnt put the cash back in my a/c...Had to cancel my card and wait to they investigate it for between 2-3 weeks(depending on the backlog) before they will refund my money...

General discussion / Tax Allowance may rise to £10,000
January 08, 2009, 06:38:23 PM
Tax allowance 'may rise to £10,000

Press Association, Wednesday January 07, 2009
Gordon Brown is considering raising the tax-free allowance to £10,000 as part of measures to help families struggling with the credit crunch, a close ally has claimed.

John McFall, chairman of the influential Commons Treasury committee, said he knows the move - which would effectively exempt millions of low-paid workers from income tax - is "in the Prime Minister's mind".

Currently workers do not pay any tax on the first £6,035 they earn.

But Labour MP Mr McFall called for that figure to be raised significantly.

"We should put money into the pocket of those with the lowest incomes. These are the people who most need our support," he told a newspaper.

"This would also be a fiscal stimulus since this group is most likely to spend rather than save."

Upping the limit would also benefit those earning more, because they too would only start paying basic rate tax at £10,000, he added.

Child elopers' Africa plan foiled
"Witness" Anna-Bell (l), with the happy couple: Anna-Lena (c) and Mika
The three were trying to travel without passports or money

Two German children - aged five and six - have been stopped by police from eloping to Africa to tie the knot in the sun, reports say.

The budding lovebirds, identified as Mika and Anna-Lena, packed bathing costumes, sunglasses and a lilo and headed for the airport.

They even had the presence of mind to invite along an official witness - Anna-Lena's seven-year-old sister.

The three got as far as Hanover railway station before police intervened.

The young couple were "very much in love" and had decided to get married in Africa "where it is warm", police spokesman Holger Jureczko told the AFP news agency.

Sun-seekers

The idea for the getaway wedding was born as the children's families celebrated New Year's eve together and Mika regaled the two girls with stories of a recent holiday to Italy.

They can still put their plan into action at a later date
Holger Jureczko
Hanover police spokesman

The following morning, as their parents slept, the intrepid trio walked 1km (0.6 miles) to the local tram station at Langenhagen, where they hopped aboard a tram for Hanover central station.

But the group aroused the suspicion of a guard as they waited for a train to the airport, and police were called in.

Officers persuaded the children they would not get far without tickets and money, but consoled them with a free tour of the police station, where they were shortly picked up by relieved parents.

Although any marriage plans have been put on hold for now, police did not altogether rule out the possibility of an African wedding.

"They can still put their plan into action at a later date," AFP quoted the spokesman as saying.

General discussion / e-mail from our wee country..
November 27, 2008, 12:35:25 PM
Got this  e-mailed from Our Wee Country because i registered to have a wee look....

Doug Beattie is an Ulsterman born in 1965. For the first ten years of his life he moved around continuously as his father went from posting to posting with the British army.

When the family finally returned to Northern Ireland they settled in Portadown. As with most other children of his generation he had his fair share of exposure to 'The Troubles', not least when one of his uncles was shot dead walking home, apparently killed as part of a loyalist feud. But thanks to the determination of his parents he managed to avoid being sucked into the spiral of violence. At the age of 16 he followed in the family tradition and joined the British army.

For the next twenty odd years of his life he spent almost half of that period away from home either on operation or training. He served in such places as South Armagh, Berlin, Cyprus, Bosnia and Iraq, and all the time he progressed up through the ranks. During the second Gulf War Doug Beattie was the regimental sergeant major of the 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment, commanded by Colonel Tim Collins. Doug knew the colonel extremely well and was at his side when he made his famous eve of battle speech. Following the invasion of Iraq Doug was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Bravery for confronting a mob single-handed and stopping them from lynching supporters of Saddam Hussein.

Our Wee Country is giving you the chance to win a signed copy of Capt Doug Beattie MC new Book "An Ordinary Soldier"

All you have to do is come up with a question for Doug, he will then look the questions over, pick what he thinks is the most original or unique and answer the question himself here on the forum.

Anyone suggest any questions i could ask.
I really want this book!!  ;)
