Shane, the twat is referring to the time elapsed since the only true N. London team's last League title win in 1961.

A Down man would remember 1961 alright...his County Football team was quite good in those days ;D

I hear the Goons are painting a lifesize portrait of Thierry Henry at the Haemorrhoids Stadium, like they did with the crowd at the North Wnak a few years ago. Then they can just pretend! ;D

PS The Islington and Haringey Health and Social Services Trust have block booked ten thousand seats at the Haemorrhoids Stadium next season...all are to be allocated to chronic insomniacs ;D

Sammy, get over yourself. Jim Gracey, Howard Wells and David Healy all said in yesterday's Sunday Life to get on with the stadium at the Maze. Gracey also drew attention to the fact that a loyalist compound was also being preserved at Long Kesh, but, and I quote, "you'd think the H Block was to be in the centre circle, to hear some people". He also said that the bgaze of sports fans need never fall on either of the Long Kesh compounds whenthey attend the Maze, unlike soccer stadia such as in Nuremburg which are tangible shrines to Nazism They also admitted that no one had come up with any viable Belfast location as an alternative

Get over it.

NIFan you talk a load of bollicks sometimes. Dougan's partnership with John Richards (I remember this well, unlike you I guess) was one of the most prolific at the time and took Wolves to the 1974 League Cup Final. Are you seriously suggesting that it was lack of form, or the striking qualities of Derek Spence and Sammy Morgan, that kept him out of N.Ireland squads since the summer of 1973

Stew that comment was out of order. If you had said North of Ireland fans will be less sad at his passing than they would normally be when a former player passes on you would have been correct. What amazes me is that the late George Best was equally passionate in his advocacy of an All Ireland team yet he never attracted the hatred Dougan encountered.

Not many of you are aware of this but Derek Dougan was granted lifelong honorary membership of the FAI some years ago.

You are quite correct in that Dougan was never selected to play for the North after the Brazil Shamrock Rovers game in 1973. You see, unlike the other Northern players involved, Dougan was pivotaly involved in organising the game and clashed with the bigot Harry Cavan (then IFA president) in the run up to the game.Cavan was bigotted to the extent that he blocked the team being called "Ireland" for this game, instead they had to play under the name of Shamrock Rovers XI and wear hopped jersies.

Dougan was a top class man and a player I saw play on numerous occasions. I recall hin and George Best almost coming to blows after Bestie refused to leave the pitch after being sent off in a game against Scotland

Phobias not disappearing quickly? Jaysus 200 hundred years nearly have gone since 1820...how much longer must we wait? :-\

That's Shane on the bottom row, third from the left! I always knew he was a closet yid!

PS I wonder will Henry be permitted to give Nou Camp stewards blow jobs?

None of them because they are all true, mate.

Also the abuse meted out to Cherie Blair, Ruth Kelly etc is all rooted to their religious affiliation.

The evil empire crumbles. First Dein, now Henry and surely Wenger must be packing his bags too. And we got two million more for Michael Carrick than the Goons are getting for Henry! 12 years of hurt coming to an end! ;D

Britain is irrefutably not intolerant but anti catholic. Of course Blair should be asked why he couldn't feel comfortable in converting to the one true faith prior to leaving Downing Street.  The sectarian British monarchy (the only reason unionists owe allegiance to Britain as Martin Smyth Orange Grand Master and Unionist politician explained not too long ago) is ridiculous in this day and age and should be attracting the attention now of the EU.There is a substantial section of masons and other anti catholic organisations (including the Orange Order) with their hands on some very powerful levers in Britain.

General discussion / Re: Celtic Cup
June 22, 2007, 03:12:17 PM
DUP Luminary/Asshole Nelson Mc Causland had a letter in the Belfast Telegraph berating IFA President Jim Boyce for allowing this tournament to be called the Celtic Cup, as the six counties was comprised off a lot of non Celts descendants etc.

Yet he has no problem with the IFA labelling their premier local knockout competition "The Irish Cup" :-[

I would be opposed to this farce. In the former annual British and Irish Championship, the only match that really mattered was the England Scotland game. Often the Wales V North of Ireland game had a four figure attendance only.In recent years the FAI has done brilliantly brining the likes of Brazil ,Portugal and  Italy to Dublin for friendlies. These attracted full house attendances at Lansdowne and its the route the FAI should continue with rather than games against Scotland, Wales and the North, which have no spectator appeal

Pitch invasions before the final whistle.

Artane Boys Only Band.

Did you hear this on the news this morning? Apparently outside Dundalk last night, the Enterprise train from Dublin to Belfast refused to cross the border, and suddenly would go in only one direction, reverse! :D They had reverse back to Dundalk and then bus the passengers from Dun Dealgan to Beal Feirste, and a load of them were complaining about wonky lights in the bus as well :D

Could this happen anywhere else in the world?

Senior Clerics throwing the ball in to start the game.

Eamon De Valera

The old scoreboard at the Hill/Nally end saying "The Cat and Cage..where you'll see more pints going over the bar than you'll ever see at Croke Park!"

 ;D Very good redhander. ;D

In all seriousness I think these lads deserve credit. They hadn't a bad word to say about their experience and could well have used any excuse to have a gratuitous swipe at the GAA
