Looks like this will put them well ahead of all local competition.Have fond memories of Oriel Park, saw my first ever Celtic game there (Dalglish and Mc Grain both in the team that night), also was there for big European ties involving PSV Eindhoven,Celtic,Spurs and Liverpool.

General discussion / The North East 200
« on: December 11, 2017, 05:56:16 PM »
What do you make of the 200 Northern signatories to the letter to Leo Varadkar asking him to stand up for the rights of Irish Citizens in the North? I am totally confused I have to say.

I thought Sinn Fein were more than capable of lobbying on behalf of Northern nationalists, uniquely with members elected to Stormont,The Dail and Westminster.

Secondly there is a portion in the letter referring to the denial of "human rights" here which are "enjoyed" in all other parts of these islands. This is an obvious reference to allowing gay marriage and relaxing strict abortion legislation,in the North.Does this mean the two prominent priests that have signed this letter,Fr Joe Mc Veigh and Fr Gary Donegal support the introduction of gay marriage and a relaxation of abortion laws here???

I attended the Bord Gais Energy Theatre last night, where the evening car park rate, normally concessionary, from 6pm to midnight, was a whopping 13.You would pay 4 max in Belfast.

General discussion / British Forces training at Curragh Camp?
« on: November 17, 2017, 08:51:34 AM »
Just listened to Boris thanking the Free State on radio for training British Forces at the Curragh? Who knew that?

Following on from the map controversy on the Late Late Show, this week we have had Sean O'Rourke laughing on air at Liam Cosgrave's suggestion that water was too good for the hunger strikers and Eamon Dunphy thanking God on air for "Londonderry" (referencing the contribution of Martin O'Neill,Mc Clean and Duffy in Cardiff).

This has caused a howl of protests up North, but no adverse reaction at all in the South. Are we too sensitive up here? I must say I did laugh at Dunphy's comment, which I interpreted at the time as being tongue in cheek

General discussion / My thread to pontificate about Protestantism
« on: October 05, 2017, 04:27:45 PM »
As we approach the 500th anniversary of the so called Reformation,I note that a number of events are taking place across Ireland, organised by the Presbyterian Church, including one in Dublin,to celebrate this abomination. These would be easily ignored if it were not for the fact that some catholic priests are willingly taking part in these.

I do hope their participation is solely from the perspective of pointing out the heresy and abomination of this lamentable event,by the Satanic possessed Martin Luther. To even debate its merits, far less celebrate it,would be something no catholic should countenance.

What's going on?

GAA Discussion / Ulster Football, where to now?
« on: September 17, 2017, 06:53:28 PM »
With Mayo doing what Ulster Champions Tyrone failed to do,giving Dublin a game today, and Derry Minors beaten out the gate by Kerry today, the outlook for Ulster Football is bleak to say the least. Are there any hints of blue skies on the horizon?
