GAA Discussion / GAA Associated Brand Name
May 18, 2012, 12:43:59 AM
Hi all,

Myself and a friend are considering a little venture, and have a potential product for the GAA market.

I was hoping for some ideas on a brand name, which would associate it with the GAA, without giving Croker anything to come get us! ;)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Just reading through Ulster GAA weekly newspaper, The Gaelic Life.

What other magazines or papers exist in Ireland that target the GAA specifically?

Hurling Discussion / Up and coming Hurling Stars
April 03, 2012, 03:39:17 PM
Hi all,

Who are the current top 3 hurlers in Ireland? Who do you all believe to be the next 'Shefflin'?

Will this star come from within Kilkenny again? Has Liam Watson the ability to gain this recognition, even though he hurls for Antrim?

Be very interested to hear your thoughts...

GAA Discussion / Michael Meehan Injury
January 31, 2012, 12:39:31 PM
Just seen this article.

Not nice to hear about such a talented players career in jeopardy.

It will make Derry's task this Sunday a little easier without him.

Meehan career could be over
31 January 2012

Galway's Michael MeehanAn ankle injury could put an end to Micheal Meehan's Galway career.

The brilliant 27-year-old forward has been dogged by injuries in recent seasons and new Galway boss Alan Mulholland disclosed the full extent of the battle he is currently facing, revealing in the Irish Examiner today that Meehan might not pull on the maroon shirt again:

"There's no better chance of him playing in 2013 than there is in 2012.

"He's got an injury that is what it is at the moment now. Further surgery has been analysed in the US and in England but further surgery isn't going to help him.

"It's a management thing. It's a cartilage issue in his ankle. It's a degenerative thing that can't be replaced.

"He's in a Paul McGrath type situation where he has to manage his injury though maybe a comparison with Paul McGrath isn't quite fair.

"Basically he trains whenever his body allows him to train. So whether he can get sharp and fit with that type of regime we don't know."

General discussion / Quest for Fitness
January 22, 2012, 05:55:29 PM
Hi all,

Appreciate there are other threads covering this issue but was hoping someone with specialist knowledge could help.

Have had problems with tendonitis in the knee's so long distance running can be troublesome.

I'm wondering if someone could provide a detailed program for increasing fitness level that doesn't include longer distance work.

I was thinking of doing this session twice a week along with a swimming session. Again any advice or routine to follow would be great.

look forward to any responses

Just wondered what the consenus was with supporters in Derry?

I am in disbelief that the Derry County Board don't realise that Derry have the genuine quality to mount a challenge for SAM, and that they seem to be so content with what i see as inadequacies within the Management set-up.
We need somebody that is very astute along the line ( someone who can influence a game in a positive way by seein when and where to make changes ). Someone who will bring a professional approach to squad( I still maintain our County team are still a long way of the likes of Tyrone and Armagh as regards both physical and mental preparation ).
There is no doubt the talent is in Derry. Chances of winning All-Irelands appear not too often in Derry, therefore why jeopardise a very realistic opportunity?
If u were hiring a manager to run your business, would you hold onto someone 'not up to it', just to be mannerly?
The point i want to make here is that surely the supporters in Derry realise the massive mistake the county board are about to make, and surely something can be done to slavage what could be a disaster?
