Important to get a result and a decent performance tonight after dropping points against Sheff Utd and Arsenal albeit against 10 men. Cavani excellent in the 1st half and hopefully Martial can take a bit of confidence from his two goals which were both taken brilliantly. Much sterner test against Everton on Saturday.

VAR continues to baffle..

United really needed that, brilliant to see how ruthless they were and that they kept going until the end too.

Luke Shaw has had some turnaround, been outstanding since Telles was signed. He's finally grown up too, surrounded himself with too many hangers on for far too long and is now fully concentrated on his football.

They've admitted they got both decisions wrong in the 1st half last week against Sheffield United, their goal should have been disallowed and Martials should have been allowed.

It's a shame Martial felt the need to dive even at 6-0.
Terrible decision by the Ref/VAR
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

There was contact and he goes down, doesnt matter if its 6 0 or 0 0, any where else on the pitch the ref blows it as a foul and the game moves on.

Sometimes these go for you and sometimes they dont was we saw against Sheff Utd.

Good result on to the next one.

Martial made most of the contact but obviously was not a dive as ref reviewed and sent the player off for denying a goalscoring opportuity by making no effort to play the ball, instead impeded player.  Similar to David Luiz sending off for Arsenal

For some that say they don't post on a thread he's having a bit of a gurn on it...

The game was over after the red card, it was an easy red to give, thought their disallowed goal was a bit harsh, after that they completely folded.

In fairness to Utd they really chased the game down and helped their goal difference but City are 1/4 to win the league, that's a serious odds on price at this time, think the guy on radio this morning said Utd were 12/1 and Liverpool 4/1 that's a serious gap in prices...

Liverpool can still have a say in this regardless of their defence issues, their form last few games has been championship form...

This weekend games will be telling.

A better season than last year

Martial must be the sourest looking bollix that ever wore a football shirt. Two goals and not even a hint of a smile.

Maybe he knows his day are numbered at United. Hopefully that's the case.

Yeah, thon was a face that needed a good slap, loads of potential and in some games can be brilliant, but not interested

The rule will be changed just like the offside rule was changed after the ridiculous offside goal City scored against Villa.

Greenwood was through on goal when Dean awarded a penalty, surely Mike Dean should have waited to see if Greenwood scored before making a decision. Its equally as contentious as the sending off but for some reasons nobody wants to talk about it. United were on the receiving end of 2 bad decisions last week and it was barely mentioned yet when United apparently benefit from something the media are relentless.

So it turns out United should have had a penalty as the rule is if contact continues from outside the area into the area its a penalty. Its all just a shambles.

Surely if Lingard can get a bit of form and confidence hed be a better squad player than Dan James.

The subtleties are often interesting. Any reporting of the 9-0 I've seen has put heavy emphasis on Southampton being down to 10 and then 9 men. When Utd lost 6-1 to Spurs the Martial sending off wasn't particularly highlighted as being key to the scoreline. I suspect that back then several people in the media reckoned that Ole was teetering on his perch and were hoping to help nudge him.

easier said than done. Has looked devoid of form/confidence for a couple of years now (apart from brief individual games). The move may well be the trigger for a return to form, I sincerely hope so.

I suppose the reason he was moved on instead of James would be the difference in sale values combined with wages. The club may feel the extra being paid for Lingard over James isn't worth paying for compared to the difference in output of both players.
Interesting to see if Diallo gets any game time during the next few months

When Lingard is on form, I like to watch him play. But he only turns it on for a few games now and again. I hoped he gets his confidence back and if he returns to United, returns as a better player.

On another note, it's amazing how many of that England team from 2018 have went downhill since. Trippier, Stones, Alli, Lingard, Pickford, Young and I suppose Maguire too. Only Kane you could say has improved as a player. That England team (and manager) were put up on a pedestal and linked to big teams, when in reality they were an average team who happened to get a very very handy run of games to a World Cup semi final.

Stones seems to be on form again but apart from that thats a fine list of mediocrity right there. The handiest of draws surely
