Anyone know anything about this Qualter bloke? Heard he is from Waterford and in College in Athlone IT?

Hiney and Carroll to make Dubs return
Ballyboden duo Stephen Hiney and Emmet Carroll will make their return to the Dublin jersey this Saturday in the Dubs Stars clash at Naomh Mearnog, Portmarnock (2.0).
Carroll opted out of the panel in 2006 while Hiney only made his comeback to club hurling late in the summer after a combination of an eye injury and travel had ruled him out.
Hiney had surgery on a detached retina which threatened his hurling career but he will make his first appearance in a Dublin jersey since July 2005.
A new face to the Dublin side is Declan Qualter who will line out at centre-forward, flanked by Keith Dunne and Joey Boland.
David Curtin, Ronan Fallon and Kevin Flynn, originally selected on the Dubs Stars starting 15, are all away are will be replaced by  Fergal Armstrong, Michael Carton and Kevin O'Reilly.
The hurling clash will be preceded by the meeting of Ballyboden St Enda's and Dublin in a camogie game (12.30).

Playing for vincents - is from Galway as far as I know- did quite well for the senior hurlers this year.

Anyone make it along to the game? I always think it'd make more sense if the bluestars team was selected from players not on the dublin panel.

lynchbhoy

I wonder is Qualtar any relation of former Waterford hurling player Anthony Qualtar.
Tony had a roy of the rovers season, rose to prominence with club, got selected for the county then the following season slipped to complete obscurity and back off the radar again.
Was brilliant for that one season

Qualter fires Dublin on road to Dubs Star victory

DUBLIN 2-19 DUBS STARS 0-10

St Vincent's Declan Qualter had a Dublin debut to remember when he hit five points as Dublin defeated a depleted Dubs Stars side in Saturday's challenge in Naomh Mearnog, Portmarnock.

Galway native Qualter has declared his inter-county allegiance to Dublin for 2007 and on Saturday showed that he has the accuracy to stake a strong claim for inclusion once the League gets underway in late February.

Injury and unavailablilty due to holidays robbed the Dubs Stars of several of their original selection including Stephen Perkins, Ronan Fallon, David Curtin, Kevin Flynn and Kevin O'Reilly while Alan McCrabbe had to be withdrawn due to injury after only ten minutes - as a result they were always fighting an uphill battle.

The Ballyboden duo of Stephen Hiney and Emmet Carroll, both of whom were returning to the Dublin colours after and absence of over 12 months, did well for Dublin while young wing-forward Keith Dunne showed well and finished with 1-2.

Dublin led 0-9 to 0-2 at half-time and Peadar Carton's goal three minutes into the second half sealed victory. Ten minutes later Dunne added the second.

The Football Dubs Stars clash takes place next Saturday (Jan 6) in Naomh Mearnog (2.0).

Hi All, Can anyone give me details of the 1993 Dublin Hurling minor team that lost the leinster final that year. Preferably the full squad.
I need to check on a bet with a mate.

SuperMac

Dublin should be looking for  the same high standards demanded of the football team with our hurlers. If we settle for mediocrity then we'll lose more and more players.
