GAA Discussion / Can we help out a local soccer club?
September 12, 2020, 07:56:56 PM
Let's imagine that there's a rural GAA club, and it has been approached by a small soccer club in the area asking if they could train on the small training pitch that the GAA club has, while their pitch is being renovated. The GAA club would like to help out, but can they? There would be no games, just training.

If we registered the soccer players (for some nominal amount), would that work?

GAA Discussion / Safe Return for Gaelic Games

Would like to hear what other clubs are doing around this. We had our first meeting on it tonight and have decided to start with the following:

--> We're not going to bring back U12 and lower until after 20th of July. There's only 3 weeks in the difference and we deemed trying to maintain 2m spacing with them to be not worth the effort.
--> We're going to have our Senior team train on Tuesday 30th June as our pilot. We'll see how everything goes that night and then look to bring a couple of more teams back `later that first week.
--> We're not going to offer temperature testing at the grounds. If you haven't taken your temperature and recorded it before coming to training, then you won't be able to train.
--> Coaching numbers is going to be a big challenge (even more so than normal); with 10 players to 1/2 coaches, pus a Covid Supervisor, it's going to be tough.

Anyone else getting started on it?

GAA Discussion / Club Questions
January 19, 2019, 12:44:42 PM
Getting a bit more involved in the club this year and hoping the good folks of GAAboard will be able to help me with some questions.

Firstly .... can a GAA club (in Mayo) register as a charity? There was some confusion about it at our committee meeting last night.

Has there been any decision on whether younger age groups will be modified to fit with the new U17 set up? i.e. will it go to U15, U13, U11, U9, U7?

GAA Discussion / Underage Football
February 22, 2015, 01:38:14 PM
Looking for a few answers ...
What size is the first-touch football would 5-7 yo's use? Want to pick up one for the house.
Best mouth guard for that age?
Any recommendations for kids boots?
Any advice to help my young fella enjoy himself starting out? He's 5.

Cheers.

Was the other thread locked because this is a foregone conclusion? Or has J70's ongoing attempts to usurp the Mods finally come back to haunt him?
