Great interview with former Liverpool youth player & Derry native, Sean Friars on Radio Foyle this morning.

Think listen back is available online this evening.

Part 2 is on tomorrow morning.  Part 3 is on Wednesday with interviews with his dad & brother.

I'm guessing value is attributed to length of contract, age etc. Liverpool would have a relatively young squad compared to the likes of barca/RM etc. Surprised PSG are not higher though.

Liverpool's squad value ranked second-highest in Europe at £1billion
Liverpool's overall squad value has risen dramatically after Jurgen Klopp's side won the Champions League and pushed Manchester City all the way to the Premier League title, according to Transfermarkt.com, via the Express.

A combination of intelligent transfer business and player development has seen the Reds rise in value over the last 12 months to second place in the list of most valuable teams in the world, just behind Manchester City.

According to Transfermarkt, the Merseyside club's squad is now worth an estimated £1billion, with City valued at £1.05billion.

Fellow Champions League finalists Tottenham have also gained significant squad value in the last year, moving ahead of Real Madrid and Manchester United in the list.

Despite heavy investment, United's squad is worth just £706.28million, placing them ninth in the rankings.

Everton have also increased in value to just scrape into the top 20 at £397.58million.

Below are the most valuable teams in the world (as of June 19) according to Transfermarkt.com.

20. Everton – £397.58m

Stevie G strikes again.
Wish he would move on, .. Derby??

He has ruled out going to Derby.  I think another year or 2 at Rangers would do him the world of good.  The reality is that as much as you might not like to admit it Rangers is a big club.  he has a chance to help build his experience of a difficult environment.  I think he will stay there for a season or 2 and then look at a mid level PL team with a view to moving into the LFC job in due course.

That would worry me.  I would like to see him prove himself as a very astute manager before ever getting within a mile of the Liverpool job (I hope Klopp is there for a very long time).  He doesn't have a God given right to do it - needs to prove he's in the top category of managers out there.
That's just, like your opinion man.

It's tough to say no to hero ex-players.  United did well to freeze out Giggs, even this week Totti overstayed his welcome at Roma.

I see Fernando Torres has retired...
If he was to do this now he'd need to use both hands...
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Don't think I ever saw him play a good game with Spain or any of the clubs he played with after Liverpool, but he was awesome when he played with us.

Scored the winner in the Euro 08 final. His only goal of the tournament methinks. David Villa was on fire at that tournament. I think there was a broadcasting issue due to thunder and lightning in Austria or Switzerland for the final.
