Rejecting a 4% pay rise backdated to January may cost them alot of support...

With inflation hitting 10%, why would they?

How many people get anywhere close to a 10% payrise this year?

HMRC got a 13% payrise recently

Wee James no surprise, the only surprise is that he left it so long. Down are at a low ebb but it's probably a good time to take that job as they can't sink much lower but they need to begin to try and heal the club rifts which will be difficult. Maybe an outside man like Banty alongside Laverty and Poacher.

What club rifts?

Kilcoo and Burren, I'm only looking at it from the outside but I get the impression that there isn't much love between Kilcoo in general and the county set up.
Generally, a dominant club is not good for the county team.

didnt do us any harm when cross were dominant

Many would argue it did, and this became particularly evident once the AI winning team began to break up around 2006. Senior club football was uncompetitive and uninteresting for years, and the overall standard dropped markedly compared with previously decades. We're maybe only beginning to see a recovery in the last two or three years - 25 years on from the birth of the monster.
All Irelands need high skill levels. Regular hammerings are bad for skills development . The best club team will never get the full 15 on the county team or be better in every single position. A spread of clubs tends to be better.
Armagh only won the one all Ireland while Cross were vacuuming up county titles.

And zero All Irelands when they werent

Yeah Cavanagh not overly likeable but he was a fantastic footballer. Tyrone would less than 4 all irelands without him. He was one of the best players of his era.

Im a proud Armagh man but this is the truth. An excellent player

I was watching on sky where there was proper analysis but I'm curious as to what Pats emotional story was?

Something to do with his father dying in the aftermath of a Galway and Kerry All Ireland final

Farcical levels of dominance by Van Aert and Vingegaard at this years tour. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I was a massive LA fan. When he admitted his doping I stopped watching cycling. I have started again this year but I just presume they are all on the juice. Less disapointment that way

Bit of transfer activity

https://www.celticfc.com/news/2022/july/19/double-signing-swoop-as-aaron-mooy-and-moritz-jenz-join-celtic/

Are they any better than what they've got already?

Mooy - is he not similiar to Mc Carthy and he's either injured or on the bench?

I think they need a bit more quality. Hopefully these two lads surprise us all.

Well we'll certainly give them a chance...
I was over at Norwich game at the weekend and they looked slick at times with good movement and first time quick football. The position we look the most rusty in is Centre Forward but we'll get there. I was reading over the weekend people were already slagging Mooy for his first 15-20 mins on the pitch...WTF. Some people are just ridiculous and too quick with their fingers on the keyboard nearly wanting the guy to make a mistake so they can type utter tripe.

Ive always said, had twitter been around after Henrik's debut he would have been slaughtered. People are far too quick to judge

Declan Bonner has stepped down as Donegal manager.

Malachy O'Rourke bound to be tempted at that role. Donegal have the talent if they can just harness it.
Murphy will depart under the next managers tenure but i thought there were some really excellent forwards in their U20 side earlier this year.
Im convinced had they got past Tyrone they would have won the U20 All Ireland

Serious potential for Donegal if they get this appointment right.

Keelan  Dunleavey and Bobby McGettigan was the stand out forwards for Donegal U20s will be interesting to see can they make the step to senior.  Malachy O'Rourke would look like a good fit for Donegal if he makes himself available.

Getting serious coin at Glen and less pressure

...has O'rourke told you this personal or is that just another sweeping assumption on your behalf?

Ive often wondered how people "know" what club managers are getting paid

So one persons view on it.. thanks  ;D

We're you expecting an article joint written by 10 people?

Well if it was plenty of creditable sports journos you'd look at it, but if someone like you who doesn't even know the rules of GAA says something then I'll not worry about it..

It was a sporting first for Ireland, take it for what it is. The best team (ranked one) is beaten over 3 games

Nope.

In tbe context of a conversation about the press losing the run of themselves an article describing the tour win as Ireland's best ever sporting result was mentioned. You seemed to disbelieve this and when shown up are complaining it's only one article. You would give anadin a headache

it was hardly Ireland's best ever sporting result

I thought that was a fantastic game and a great advertisement for hurling. But I struggled trying to figure out what was a free and what wasn't. I came to the conclusion the ref was just each team frees in turns haha

3 Derry players? Absolutely deluded.

Last time Tyrone were beaten semi-finalists in 2019 we got 2 All-Stars and we were narrowly beaten by Kerry, not well beaten by Galway.
Cavan won Ulster in 2020 and got 3 all.stars.

different circumstances

I wouldn't expect any of our players to get an all star but I can see a few being nominated. Rian. Grugan. Rafferty. Soupy.
