A couple of years back; 2007, I was setting up a new club, and contacted both O'Neills and Gaelic Gear about supplying some basic needs. Gaelic Gear ended up sending me 15 of their match balls for next to nothing (think it worked out at €15 per ball). this was exactly what we needed as didn't have a penny to our name. The ECB had also put us in contact with O'Neills for their special deal / agreement, but it worked put at €50 per ball. The service from Gaelic game was fantastic and we were really grateful to them, but shortly after we held our first tournament the balls went pear shaped; literally. so at the end of the day quality was an issue, but I'd still like to know why HQ withdrew the license. Competition is essential in this market, as the cost of GAA Gear can be a little excessive, especially taking into consideration that O'Neills have a solid, guaranteed, consistent market. I think you answered your own question there. You only get a license if you deserve. Their products obviosuly were not up to scratch so how could the GAA endorse them?

How can you justify Cormac Nelligan (man of the match in the 2009 senior county final) and Martin Dunne (the SFC top scorer) lining out with the seconds though?

I mean they are going to be nowhere near the Intermediate championship team when that time comes so you are stopping the lad that will have to play come championship from playing some league games.

That defeats the whole purpose of a second team in my book.

Look I don't think you should have been put into the Intermediate either - Personally I could never understand why Swanlinbar were never put up considering they were the beaten finalists.

Anthing more than 5 minors wouldn't be fair on the young lads, I get that, but you just would have gotten more respect from me if you had of fulfilled the fixture regardless of the result or at least given sufficent notice. If you had of gotten the spine of the team together you would have been fine.

I just think the issue of your second team needs to be tightened up completely. I mean we played you in the first round of the league and you had Cormac Nelligan and Martin Dunne playing. Like that is just wrong and unfair.

McElkennon will leave Monaghan this year too. However I can't see him going back into management at IC level. Coaching is more his gig. For me anyway Cassidy is already down in the job centre. Micko I just cant see going back to Laois at all.

Grimley I imagine is a shoe-in for Monaghan and I reckon Dessie Dolan will finally get his shot with Meath of the West. McGuinnes in Donegal is a dead cert.
