After that shambles today, the Larries will have to be favourites.
I wasnt down at Aughrim two years ago,or Pairc Ui Rinn last year, but that might very well the worst championship performance ive ever witnessed by a Cavan team.
What do you Larries think?

Good to see those little scumbags have been charged.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (CBS/AP) Nine teenagers face charges for allegedly hounding and harassing 15-year-old Irish immigrant Phoebe Prince, bullying her to the point where she hanged herself to end her misery.

Out of the nine teens, two boys are charged with statutory rape and they and a clique of girls are facing charges including stalking, criminal harassment and violating Phoebe's civil rights.

Candlelight Vigil for Phoebe (Associate Press/The Republican, Don Treeger)
School officials are not charged even though authorities say they knew the girl was being bullied and they didn't stop the harassment even after Prince's mother came to two of them with her concerns.

Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel said the events before the teen's death on Jan. 14 were "the culmination of a nearly three-month campaign of verbally assaultive behavior and threats of physical harm" widely known among the student body.

The 15-year-old was insulted and threatened almost from her first day at South Hadley High School, bullying her in the halls, library and through text messages. Prince was harassed for having a short relationship with a popular boy in school.

On the day she hung herself, Prince was pelted with a beverage container and cursed at as she walked home from school.

Scheibel said the harassment began in September, occurring primarily in school and in person, although some of it surfaced on Facebook and in other electronic forms. At least four students and two faculty members intervened to try to stop it or report it to administrators, she said.

Prince's family has since moved away from the area.

Some students accused of participating in the bullying have been disciplined by the school and will not be returning to classes.

The teens who face criminal charges under the indictments announced Monday are:

Sean Mulveyhill, 17, of South Hadley. Charged with statutory rape, violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury, criminal harassment and disturbance of a school assembly.

Kayla Narey, 17, of South Hadley. Charged with violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury, criminal harassment and disturbance of a school assembly.

Austin Renaud, 18, of Springfield. Charged with statutory rape.

Ashley Longe, 16, of South Hadley. Charged as a youthful offender with violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury.

Sharon Chanon Velazquez, 16, of South Hadley. Charged as a youthful offender with stalking and violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury.

Flannery Mullins, 16, of South Hadley. Charged as a youthful offender with stalking and violation of civil rights resulting in bodily injury.

Three 16-year-old South Hadley girls, whose names were not released, face delinquency charges that include the civil rights offense, criminal harassment and disturbance of a school assembly

From Hoganstand:
London could be a fair bit better this year!

Donegal defender Eamonn McGee and Cavan forward Gerald Pierson are expected to throw in their lot with the London footballers.

The news is a major boost to the Exiles who are benefiting from the recession after emigration from Ireland to the English capital came to a virtual standstill during the Celtic Tiger years.

McGee has joined Tir Chonaill Gaels, but is not eligible to play for the Greenford-based club in Sunday week's All-Ireland club quarter-final against Munster champions Tir Chonaill Gaels.

Gowna clubman Pierson has also moved to London and is not included in Cavan's McKenna Cup squad, so the door is open for him to join the Exiles.

Former London manager Noel Dunning, who is now part of a three-man selection committee along with Liam Brennan and Martin McGrath, is also hoping Gary McCloskey will come on board after jetting back home to play for Leitrim in last year's league and championship.

Confirming that McGee and Pierson were on the management's radar, the Westmeath native said in the Irish Daily Star: "He (McGee) is over. He is involved with Tir Chonaill Gaels, helping them out, so he hasn't been involved with London yet.

"I'd certainly hope he'd commit, but I haven't spoken to him at any great length. I haven't spoken to any Tir Chonaill Gaels players. I don't want to try and derail them from what they are trying to achieve."

On Pierson, he added: "We'd be hoping we'd have him."

Cavan 4 men,"sent off" tonight in Eddie Reily,Anton Reily,David Givney and John McCutcheon,Most of these for sweet f**k all.
The referee tonight was a complete tool.
I shudder to think what  more competitive games than tonights will end up like.
Teams will end up replacing 8/9 players per game.

Lads and Ladies whats the opinions on this, Obviously a measure to prevent burnout for all the College players,so i suppose it should be welcomed,
Is all get togethers forbiddenor Just Field sessions???
Because i heard off Tommy Carr scheduling fitness tests for a provisional panel here in Cavan sometime in November,
Is Gym work exempt from this ruling?

This new ruling claimed its first casuality

Jim Greene says that a number of reasons, including the fact that his side would only have been given three weeks to prepare for their NHL crunch opener with Offaly, contributed to his decision to resign as Carlow hurling manager.

Under new GAA guild lines, inter-county teams are not permitted to train until January 1 and it was this lack of pre-Christmas preparation that made Greene tender his resignation to the Carlow County Board, putting an end to his 12-month stint at the helm of the Barrowsiders.

Greene had never been consulted over the team holiday either, which sees the players fly out to New York on January 5 and return on January 11.

"The first date that we could have had a training session was January 13 and Carlow are due to Play Offaly in their first league match just over three weeks later on February 8," said Greene.

"That's a totally inadequate amount of time in which to prepare a team for such an important, and difficult, match.

"We made a lot of progress in Carlow this year but a lot of the good work would be undone by not being properly prepared for next year's league."

Johnston called into International Rules training

Cavan's Seanie Johnston
11 September 2008

Following an exceptional season on the inter-county scene, Cavan ace attacker Sean Johnston has been called up to train with the International Rules squad for next month's series in Australia.

The Cavan Gaels marksman starred for the Breffni men this year as their main outlet for scores in both their National League and All-Ireland Championship campaigns, and if he were to make the final cut he would be the first Cavan player to do so since Larry Reilly back in 2001.

"The two training sessions have gone pretty well for me so far, I'm happy enough but it's going to be very hard to make it," admitted Johnston.

"There are a lot of Irish players out in Australia now and I presume some of them will be involved in the squad as well. It depends what sort of players they are looking for, they might be going with bigger players or they might decide that speed is a factor."

Johnston has had some experience in the compromise game at underage level before and admits that on some level it does suit his game.

"I suppose it does suit me because if you win the ball you get basically a free shot at goal, so it probably suits a lot of free-takers because they are generally accurate enough.

"I played a small bit of it at underage level for Ulster but not that much. It's a very good game, it' probably more demanding than Gaelic but it's vey enjoyable. There's a bit more physicality to it with the tackling and so on."

If Johnston can make it into Sean Boylan's final squad he will compete in two tests next month 'Down Under'.

From Hoganstand...

Cavan take alternative route in management appointment
07 August 2008

It is understood that Cavan County Board will be looking to a Dundalk-based recruiting company to help find a replacement for Donal Keogan, who left his position as Cavan senior team manager last month.

SportTrackerjobs provide an analysis support system for sportspeople and are the company that will play a major part in allocating a new senior boss in the Breffni County.

Anyone considered by the County Board as a potential candidate will be invited to apply online at www.sporttrackerjobs.ie and nominations from clubs within the county can be made until next Monday, after which a list will be constructed for interviews for the position.

According to Managing Director Peter Larkin the service will be free to Cavan on SportTracker's part in order to raise awareness of the company which began last year.

Cavan County Board chairman Philip Smith admitted that their reasons for using the recruiting companied were to consider all options and appoint the best person possible.

"We want to make the best effort we can to find the right man for the job which is why we're involving SportTracker," said Smith.

Whether or not the new Cavan boss' appointment proves to be a success could have a telling impact on whether the company will last, but with several managers departing in recent weeks it looks to be a good time to launch the programme.

How Pathetic are we lads?   :D  :D
It would be hilarious if it werent so sad.

Anyone thinking of applying?
#19
well lads the Ulster Championship starts off with the two sleeping giants of Ulster Football(would be more apt to say we are both in a coma, but still)

Would be optimistic enough about this game,Seemingly Antrim have went off the rails abit since their loss against Antrim, turnouts of 14 in training etc,Antrim really are their own worst enemy at times.

Homer said Darren Rabbitte picked up yet another injury, which is a blow as we all had him pencillied into full back.

Any other team news or opinions?
