good chance is right especially with trump and Ronnie going out in shock losses.be good to see another new name on trophy Wilson won't get a better chance after a relatively poor season.bingham when he gets on a roll is hard stopped and experience of winning big events before would expect them to be in final.gilbert is a big underachiever for his talent doesn't generally handle pressure well fella over the line again at Maguire.

Quote from: An Watcher on May 01, 2024, 10:28:52 PMGreat to see some new players in there for a change.  Delighted to see that hateful **** osullivan go out.
Looks like a Bingham v Wilson final now.  Bingham is a bit of a character too.  Jones plays a different game as well and his safety is excellent.
Refreshing to see these guys up there.  Fair play to them
+1.Ronnie gets so many plaudits for his obvious talent and achievements but an absolute bellend.

I heard that it is a cruciate ligament injury. If that's true he's gone for the season.

When did he do that?
Huge loss for us but hopefully he makes a full recovery.
Really need Mckinless's injuries to be cleared up.
Agree big loss for us, I think his early withdrawal in the semi v Kerry last year was a factor in ultimately losing that game. Not sure Mickey was his biggest fan though, seems to have been pulled to shore pretty sharpish these last few games.

Wishing him the best of luck with the rehab and return.

General discussion / Re: European Leagues.
Last post by Blowitupref - Today at 12:41:22 AM
From BBC

The Premier League has missed out on a fifth Champions League spot next season.

Borussia Dortmund's victory over PSG on Wednesday, coupled with Bayern Munich's draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday takes the German total in the European Performance Spots table to 18.356.

Even if Aston Villa were to win both legs of their Europa Conference League semi-final with Olympiakos and go on to lift the trophy, England can only reach 18.25.

Germany will now join Italy in getting a fifth automatic spot in next season's tournament.

Both countries could have six representatives, if Dortmund win the Champions League and finish outside the top four in the Bundesliga and either Atalanta or Roma win the Europa League.

The winners of both tournaments qualify automatically for the following season's Champions League.

The additional places are added no matter how many clubs enter the tournament by the usual method.

Ironically, even if they do not win the tournament, Dortmund will be the beneficiaries as they are almost certain to finish fifth in the Bundesliga.

This f**king nonsense again about "characters". What you see on the screen in terms of people playing snooker hasn't changed a bit, whether it's Higgins or White or Jak Jones. It's just a lad at a table potting balls. Some do it faster than others. Some are incredibly slow. Same as it ever was.

Quote from: square_ball on May 01, 2024, 10:02:56 PMThat's as bad a semi final line up as there's ever been.

Jones v Bingham
Wilson v Gilbert

Binghams a decent watch tbh but yes overall v few characters left even from first round in the tourno was struggling in this respect

Jones minds me on Wolfie from Inbetweeners every fuddin time I see him 😆🙈

Snooker has no real personalities  now.   That was part of the attraction in the 80's, in particular.  Players are just  really dull now.

I  loved  watching  the world championship back in the day , particularly Jimmy White.  I was glued  to the TV when he was on.

I don't think there's a  player who would  make me sit down and watch. Ronnie is a great player but  he just doesn't  do it for me. I've not watched a second so far, and with that  last 4 , it doesn't  look like  I'll watch much of what's left.

If Cavan bring the intensity they brought in the 2 Ulster games at times they'll give any of the Connacht teams a good rattle. Lynch is some loss though, was sorry to hear that.
[/quote]

Years of ingrained tactical baggage seem to still inhibit this team, until a game is slipping away. Then, when there is literally no reason left standing not to throw caution to the wind and just have a right cut off it, instinct and skills are given their head and apparently we can give a game to a good many teams. It's maddening stuff at times and we keep repeating the dose.

Derry were 4 up at HT in ET and then decided to give up the kickouts (which they dominated in the first half of ET) this gave Tyrone the impetus to come and chase down the lead - Derry will be devastated - poor game management both on the pitch and along the line letting that lead slip.
