General discussion / Holes in roof felt??
January 13, 2012, 10:46:07 PM
Weird one.

Was up in the attic and noticed puncture holes in roof felt!  As if they'd been punched from the outside like a chisel or sharp stick poke through or something but there's no tiles dislodged?   Def not rats of whatever as not eaten through.

Any ideas apart from Freddie Kruger?

Does anyone know where you can buy replacement remotes for RC cars etc or even better universal ones like you get for TV/DVD etc ?  The kids have several cars etc that the remotes have been lost/broken but the toys themselves are still in good condition.

General discussion / Irish News drop in standards
December 21, 2010, 10:32:43 PM
Has anyone else noticed how disappointing the Irish News has become as a paper?  When I lived on the Ravenhill Road I used to get the Newsletter on free door-to-door delivery and wondered how on earth anyone would pay for it.  Now the Irish News is not far behind.  Todays edition was thinner than most free papers and not much better in terms of quality journalism and it has been that way for some time.

General discussion / xbox360 for sale
December 01, 2010, 12:37:43 PM
House coming down with consoles so the xbox has to go before Christmas otherwise I'll get hassled into buying a kinect at £100.

It comes with 2 wireless controllers, all leads and a few games.   Forza, Viva Pinata, Tennis and Operation Snowblind. There may be 1 or 2 more kicking around but not sure.   I'd stick it on Ebay but can't see how it would post safely.

Lookin for £60,  if anyone wants a bargain PM me.

Lads I am on the PTA and the principal has asked us for £30 or £35 a week for a hurling coach to come in to the kids for 1 hour a week 3-4pm.

Is there no funding available for such a thing or other options?

According to reports the Meath players, having won the Leinster final by a blatant act of cheating, have "almost unanimously" voted against what is considered the fair thing to do in the eyes of the GAA family and voted not to affer a replay to Louth.

It begs the question do Meath County board and management condone blatant cheating?   Has the Royal County resorted to a win at all costs, reputation or otherwise strategy?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090811/tuk-glass-shard-kills-man-in-shop-window-dba1618.html

A man died when he was impaled on a large shard of glass after throwing a woman through a shop window in a row in the street.

The 30-year-old was seen arguing with the woman in the Regent Street area of London's West End shortly after 2am.

Witnesses told police he hurled the woman against the window of a branch of Banana Republic up to three times.

After several blows, the glass shattered and the couple fell through, leaving the man fatally wounded.

Members of the public flagged down police who went to the shop, at the junction of Regent Street and Great Marlborough Street.

Paramedics also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

General discussion / Firemen on bikes????????
July 29, 2009, 11:48:20 PM
I was driving thru Belfast today and saw 2 Firemen on white bikes with "FIRE" printed in red on the frame, a bit like the PSNI you see on bikes.  Whats that about?

Can anyone tell me if any county has had to travel 100+ miles to a hurling championship game and then the same journey next day to a football championship game instead of playng a double header if possible?  We are gutted that we have to choose between Antrim hurlers and footballers as there's no way we can go to both games in 48 hours.  How can those in croke park be so short-sighted when the numbers at each game will be relatively low?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20090310/twl-pancake-eating-contest-winner-chokes-3fd0ae9.html

The winner of a pancake-eating contest has dropped dead while accepting his prize for gorging on 43 of the banana and cream stuffed desserts.

Boris Isayev, 48, from west Russia died on stage moments after winning the competition to mark the end of Butter Week.

The contest, which took place in the town of Chernyakhovsk, was part of festivities to celebrate Maslenitsa, the last week before the period of Lent starts.

According to local traditions, meat, fish, dairy products and eggs are forbidden during Lent, as well as dancing and parties.

Witnesses described Mr Isayev as "the most active participant in the contest" adding that he "ate all the types of pancakes on offer and won fairly".

The witness added: "He had really enjoyed the pancakes but then he started foaming at the mouth and went down like a sack of stones.

"People have fainted during the contests before."

Medics tried to revive Mr Isayev after he collapsed while collecting his prize on stage.

The exact cause of death is not clear but doctors believe he choked after a piece of pancake got lodged in his throat.

Celebrations are said to have continued after Mr Isayev's body was taken away in an ambulance.

Has anyone ever shafted you in a business or personal matter so you had to think of ways of getting revenge?

What (preferably legal) ways of making the offending person's life a misery did you come up with?

I was visiting a mate in Jeruslaem Street last Friday night and when leaving Andersonstown was told to watch myself in 'that' street!  My mate then told me a few horror stories and said that even the students did their level best to avoid it!

When I got there there were a few kids playing hurley/hockey with bits of timber and a stone a couple of them hurled abuse at me cos i walked on their 'pitch'.   When I go to my mates house he said it was pretty bad some nights and girls avoided it like the plague at night.

Anyone know of bad experiences suffered by students there?

I think the Liverpool players are unwise at getting involved in this.   *IF* Shields is completely innocent, why don't the UK authorities prosecute his friend/accomplice for a crime commited overseas and put him in jail?    If justice were then seen to be served by the Bulgarian authorities they might allow Shields early release.   Can't see the Bulgarians agreeing to let him out unless the UK do something about the bloke who has openly admitted/boasted attempted murder of one of it's citizens.

Can you imagine if ia crowd of Sofia holigans who came to Liverpool and nearly killed a barman and then the players wore t-shirts demanding that the convicted man be freed?   The brits would go apoplectic!
