Rashford is on 300k a week. They started giving massive wages after Sanchez signed.
He's still 21,that sort of money is bound to lose his drive a bit. He's done f all to be getting wages like that

Welbeck was far from the complete player at United but he was a lot better than what Rashford is. Hugely overrated player.

No problem FtB.

Laoislad is correct. Relegation form as I said a few days ago.

Liverpool up next. Liverpool will win that.

If other results go against United that weekend, they could be 3rd bottom.

I honestly think United will get a result from the Liverpool game.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

The scouting system at United is clearly broken, as the players they are brining in are well below standard and they are getting paid over the top wages also.  As mentioned above, Tierney would have been a great acquisition and a fraction of the wage and price as some of the players they have, but went unnoticed.

As for calls for OGS to get the chop I think its slightly ridiculous.  Results have been as poor as they ever have true, but so has the team.  Mourinho, Van Gaal, Moyes and now OGS cannot all be bad managers either, as this is the recurring conversation that comes up ever year.  The issue isn't they have the wrong manager, they clearly have the wrong players.
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolfpack...

Man City have let the following players go in the past 3 seasons:

Danilo, Delph, Douglas Luiz, Mangala, Hart, Denayer, Iheanacho, Bony, Nolito, Fernando, Kolarov, Nasri, Zabaleta, Caballero, Clichy, Navas

If that were United at least half of them would still be there. That's part of the the problem. Admit when you are wrong about a player or a player is past their best and move on.

Too much finger pointed at OGS, it doesn't look like he is the answer but you can't ignore the state of that team and squad yesterday. It was very obvious United were short in midfield and up front prior to the season and with only a few injuries United ended up with 4 teenagers on the bench and another 4 academy graduates starting. Fellaini,Herrera, Sanchez & Lukaku have all the left the club and not one of them was replaced. I was hoping Fred would get a run in the team which he's now had, pound for pound he's currently the worst player we've ever bought;

The Glazers must be starting to get worried, revenues will drop this season as no CL football and doesn't look like we'll be back in it next season either; Commercial revenue has stalled partly down to the lack of success on the pitch and the premier league tv deal only increased about 8% for the next cycle, the domestic tv deal even decreased. United took a chance in the transfer market this summer and its backfired.

On a positive note Tuanzebe looks the part, only reservation is his aerial ability but other than that he's got the ability to be a top player for the next decade.

Wellbeck?  He was so useless Arsenal let him go for nothing. Currently not scoring up-front at Watford. Rashford is ordinary but streets ahead of Stan's lad.

Like saying the only reservation about Rashford is his goal-scoring ability!

Bord na Mona man

The scouting system is clearly broke if someone was happy that Fred was worth shelling out 50 million for.

The most plausible explanation is that after being hacked by Liverpool, Man City put a load of bogus data in their scouting database and United were the next club to break into it.

Too many injuries at Arsenal. Just making his way back. Was still a better goal scorer than Rashford

Injuries, lack of squad depth and clueless chief executive aside what is your view on OGs team selection, tactics and how he generally set the team up yesterday against a simliar low in confidence opponent?

Look-Up!

Can't see OGS lasting till new year at this rate but either way he or the new man will need to spend big in January. Thought at the time it was extremely stupid going into the new season without a striker but now it's looking criminal. I think a strong capable manager would not have let that particular situation develop. Maybe he was too weak with the board, happy to appease them and just hoped all would turn out okay.
But the reality is Rashford does not look like a central striker. Not clinical enough and his hold up play is non existent. This second facet of a striker's ability is crucial for a top team. There's a reason why Lukaku was favoured over him time and time again and coaches and managers at the club would have been well aware of this. Indeed Utd have let better backup strikers go over the years than what's currently at the club.
I'm not sure if they'll pick up anyone much better than Lukaku in the new year but it has to be priority now and can see them getting absolutely fleeced.

Hound

In fairness, I think the plan was for Martial to be central and Rashford wide. And that was working kinda well until Martial got injured. Rashford has been borderline disgraceful in a few games recently though.

"Since the end of August, for instance, his team have scored just two Premier League goals. To put that in context, that is the same number as Aaron Cresswell, Jeff Hendrick and Ricardo Pereira individually.
Solskjaer's gamble on removing the deadwood and hoping the youngsters might step up has left him with a squad who redefine the term 'hollow'.

Maybe that is not his fault, maybe it is yet further indictment of the club's serial incompetence that they have the biggest wage bill in the Premier League, yet do not have sufficient quality in depth to cover a temporary injury crisis. But whatever it is, Solskjaer is in possession of a team less in transition than accident and emergency.
Too big to go down has already started to be heard as an assessment. After all, this is a club with the most substantial cash reserves in world football. Even the Glazers would surely appreciate the need to buy in the cavalry in January. Except, at the moment, United are so inept, so impoverished, so lacking in direction, you could put Lionel Messi in a red shirt and he would pull his hamstring walking out of the tunnel.
The revisionist history of Docherty's relegation has subsequently recast catastrophe as a necessary purging, one that enabled the rebuild properly to take root. Unless something happens urgently to turn around Solskjaer's fortunes, we might get another opportunity to examine the accuracy of such analysis. And for those who insist it could never happen, that's what we all said in 1974."

Ironic when you're usually so keen to copy and paste full articles that you don't do it for one that's behind a paywall.
