Rodgers is the real deal, second best in the league behind brady

emmmm, no, not really, actually no, not at all. Having said that he did have a very solid game yesterday, but he's just that, solid.

Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers, Ryan, Cassel, Flacco, Romo
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

You are either taking the piss or are Brett Favre. Rodgers had 9 tds and 2 ints, 68% pass completion, in the playoffs ( no home games) and then producing like that in the Super Bowl. He is several levels above players like Romo, Flacco ( who has been poor in the playoffs) and even Matt Ryan.

Rodgers has a nearly 3/1 TD to INT ratio in his career, slightly better than solid.

I like the comment below about you being Brett Favre. The highlighted part of your sentence here is nonsense! I'd have Big Ben in before Cassel, Flacco, and Romo - and maybe even Ryan (currently) - and I'd sure as hell put Rodgers before Big Ben.

Rodgers does it all and he is a winner, he is a champion and for you to mention Romo and Cassel in the same breath tells me you are clueless.
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.

Easy on Stew, he is entitled to an opinion like the rest of us, without the mud slinging.

This lad is fairly accurate. I don't know if it's doctored or not but it's impressive...

Dear NFL Fan,

When I wrote to you last on behalf of the NFL, we promised you that we would work tirelessly to find a collectively bargained solution to our differences with the players' union. Subsequent to that letter to you, we agreed that the fastest way to a fair agreement was for everyone to work together through a mediation process. For the last three weeks I have personally attended every session of mediation, which is a process our clubs sincerely believe in.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that earlier today the players' union walked away from mediation and collective bargaining and has initiated litigation against the clubs. In an effort to get a fair agreement now, our clubs offered a deal today that was, among other things, designed to have no adverse financial impact on veteran players in the early years, and would have met the players' financial demands in the latter years of the agreement.

The proposal we made included an offer to narrow the player compensation gap that existed in the negotiations by splitting the difference; guarantee a reallocation of savings from first-round rookies to veterans and retirees without negatively affecting compensation for rounds 2-7; no compensation reduction for veterans; implement new year-round health and safety rules; retain the current 16-4 season format for at least two years with any subsequent changes subject to the approval of the league and union; and establish a new legacy fund for retired players ($82 million contributed by the owners over the next two years).

It was a deal that offered compromise, and would have ensured the well-being of our players and guaranteed the long-term future for the fans of the great game we all love so much. It was a deal where everyone would prosper.

We remain committed to collective bargaining and the federal mediation process until an agreement is reached, and call on the union to return to negotiations immediately. NFL players, clubs, and fans want an agreement. The only place it can be reached is at the bargaining table.

While we are disappointed with the union's actions, we remain steadfastly committed to reaching an agreement that serves the best interest of NFL players, clubs and fans, and thank you for your continued support of our League. First and foremost it is your passion for the game that drives us all, and we will not lose sight of this as we continue to work for a deal that works for everyone.

Yours,
Roger Goodell

Any statement from the Players Union? Their website is down.

Pity, that proposal from the owner seems reasonable.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Club Rossa

Jerry Jones is still confident that a deal can be done, for once i hope he's right.

In the Mixed Martials Arts World the biggest player is the UFC, with the second biggest promotion with some of the best fighters in the world being Strikeforce. In an unexpected move UFC just purchased Strikeforce.
What does this mean and why am I posting here?

Well with the NFL lockout on the horizon I can see the UFC launching Sunday fights to capture a portion of the audience. They now have a huge roster of exciting fighters and a host of super fights and matchups the fans want to see. I could be wrong but it's a possibility........

NFL Lockout was always going to happen, but I don't think the season will be jeapordised. This golden goose won't be killed.

A baseball season was lost in the 80s. They have to have a bit of sense or the season could be lost.

That was in the 90s. The NBA had a shortened season a few years later as well.

Did the NHL not lose an entire season in 2004 or something?

Of course it does. Its PR. Remember we only got to this point because the owners opted out of the last agreement, which had two years left to run! Yeah, it sounds reasonable to say "The proposal we made included an offer to narrow the player compensation gap that existed in the negotiations by splitting the difference", but you have to remember that they're splitting the difference from a number that they themselves determined originally!

Read this. It's absolutely on the nose...
