Milltown Row2

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on October 13, 2023, 10:39:01 AMWas in San Sebastián in early August and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beaches, food and the old town are fantastic. For the small people there's a lovely little funfair at the top of Monte Igueldo. We went to Bilbao one day to go to the Guggenheim, a bit of a disappointment to be honest. We flew into Biarritz with Ryanair.

Yeah was looking flights, and have been Biarritz before, but hired a car.. Are there train routes from Biarritz that you took?

Not sure about the train but there are regular buses to San Sebastián, our flight was in quite late and we had to get a taxi, €150 for a 40 minute ride. The bus back to the airport cost something like €28 for the four of us.

Bring bikes. Book your activities as soon as they are available. Wat ages the kids?

Great spot - we've been 3 times. Book your restaurants in advance, and if you can, bring your own bikes. The last time we brought some food to cook in the chalet, plus some wine/beer. It was nice to mix up going out, with chilling at 'home'. The activies are very expensive - we found the laser combat and the Aeriel adventure good; the aqua jetting was disappointing. The pool and the slides we the main focus for us - the rapids were mighty craic. If you are going soon, then bring some plastic bags to cover your bike seats - will avoid wet arses. Enjoy it.

We went last May - kids 5,3 & 2 had a great time
As above, bring bikes/bike trailers - even if you have a chalet close to the village centre, there's great fun to be had just cycling the grounds
Bike trailer is handy for carrying your bags, and tired kids
We went to baby owls activity & out on the lake on a boat. There were a good few other things our eldest could had done but the other 2 were too young for so we gave them a miss. The pool is great.
There are some activities where you can drop the kids off and go do something yourself - they were all booked up early

Things I'd do differently;
On the day we arrived, we went to the sports bar for lunch & to wait and get our chalet etc - everyone else was doing the same so we waited over an hour for food, it was a bit manic & kids were wondering etc
In hindsight we should have went on to the pool & got pizzas in there as its much quieter on the change over days
On the day we left, we went to the Pancake house for lunch - 5x pancakes €80 :o

We BBQ'd in the evenings & went wondering in the woods to tire the kids out, I'd go again maybe next year when youngest is nearly 4

How much is the place for a week? Not that I'm in the position to go as my kids aren't kids anymore  :(

You're brave
Ours are 6,4 & 3. Targeting 2025 for first trip away with all 3, once the youngest is 4.
I like the idea of a Euro Camp & a day trip to Disney - let us know how you get on

Some people I followed on Instagram did it last year in their campers & then just stayed in the carpark a night at Disney to get 2 days in the park

Anyone been to any of the Eurocamps near Venice?
There appear to be around 13 in that vicinity. Any recommendations?

Similar to a lot of the tips above, I have been to Centre Parcs twice now, and I realised too late on the 1st trip that the pool is excellent.  Id recommend putting time aside to bring the family to the pool every day. On our 2nd trip I unloaded the car and then went straight there. No real queues for the slides etc that day.

Book everything well in advance of your arrival.  We went to the Indian Restaurant the last time.  I remember it as quite expensive but the food was very good.

I'm not one for high ropes and zip wires but I know my kids absolutely loved this activity. I enjoyed the big inflatable assault course on the lake... but then both times I went it was summer and reasonably warm.

Great park, plenty to do etc.

There's a big Center Parcs near Paris - Villages Nature. I think they have transport in to Disney from the park. I saw a tip that if you use the french center parcs site it's slightly cheaper.
