And now the average deaths in the uk this past 5 years have been officially released and the deaths this past 3 weeks is actually lower than the average 5 year toll
Can anyone explain this? Probably because nobody is going out? Amazing
As Trump would say. It's time to open up

Anything I've seen says deaths 50-60k higher in UK over last number of weeks than is normal for time of year. And that was with lockdown in place.

Not sure what the above is referring to. Is it for full years? Due to mild winters and other factors there was lower death rate this winter I think. If everyone went to work and ignored this virus there's no knowing how high deaths would be.

Yes link below says 60k excess deaths

Obviously there is lots about the daily rail commute that grinds the gears...

What is the story with people who just must sit on the outside seat? Train packed, you spot a free seat on the inside close to the window. You approach the person on the outside seat about letting you sit down (sometimes they have decided that their bags deserve the other seat more than a human does).  They get up and let you get past them to sit on the inside so they can keep the precious outside seat for some reason. I don't really understand it.
Yes and it's a pain in the boll0x if you're standing behind the person trying to get into the window seat as you then have to wait while the spare seats on the train are filled by people coming from the other direction. It's just pure ignorance from the people sitting in the outside seat

Denmark won to move top of the group. Schmeichel the hero for Denmark says virgin media sport. Like father like son.
Really bad result, don't think 2 draws enough for Ireland now to finish in Top 2

I'm involved in a Dublin club underage with 2 GDO's. 1 is involved with a county team & is an exceptional individual. The huge benefit is not just in coaching kids themselves but coaching the coaches who then pass on expertise to the kids. Any time drills or advice is needed there's someone available to assist. A GDO is on hand to come to training to monitor & advise how things can be improved. To say that hasn't helped develop players over last 15 years is nonsense. And other counties don't have these luxuries

I'd probably be looking along the lines of Hampsey picking up Sean O'Shea, McNamee on Clifford, HP on Geaney and Meyler on O'Brien.

That has early yellow/black card all over it. Let's hope for McNamee sake he has one of those games this weekend. If not Clifford will destroy him.

McNamee has arguably been the best defender in the country to this point. He has seen off the likes of McBrearty, Cox and Hurley well at this point. Clifford is a tough assignment for any defender but McMenamin dealt with very well for Donegal at Croke Park. Who would you suggest?

Rory Brennan probably has the best profile, doesn't tend to get involved in the niggle McNamee does either concentrating on the task at hand. McNamee superior physicality probably best served marking Geaney who could overpower Brennan.

Just my opinion on the match ups. We'll see what Harte does.

That said, McNamee best defender in country to this point? Absolutely no.
I'd agree re McNamee more suited to Geaney. Rory Brennan on Sean O'Shea, Hampsey on Clifford (rough him up a bit maybe), Meyler to track SOB (serious pace)

All a question of demographics & money. When u have vast majority of playing population & the resources to coach them to highest level over last 15 years how would u not be best team? Only solution is not a GAA one, but when people can work from rural areas & not have to work in Dublin. And GAA properly fund other counties in relation to Dublin

As abject and toothless a performance as I've seen from a Mayo team in a long time. Some of them didn't even look remotely interested in being there and beaten to every ball from the first minute. Kerry looked hungrier and more up for it from the word go. I guess this is what happens when injuries and games on top of games add up. Kerry had a couple of weeks to prepare for this game while Mayo have been bouncing from game to game, week in and week out while juggling injuries. It caught up with them. Kerry were fresh and prepared while Mayo looked out on their feet. The scheduling for these games is an absolute mess. It shouldn't be that one team is able to bounce into this phase of the competition after a couple of weeks' break while another is doing multiple games on the trot just to get to the next phase where they will have to continue playing week in week out in the Super 8s. Every team should be given some breathing space to prepare for this stage of the competition.

That said, Mayo were miserable to watch. Leggy, disinterested, kickouts an absolute shit show from the word go, defenders seriously lacking pace, forwards receiving the worst ball imaginable. When you make Shane Enright look like a quality defender, you know something is seriously amiss with your team.

It's a serious uphill battle for Mayo now. I'm not even sure they'll beat Meath, I don't even know if they'll win a single game in this Super 8s. I'm also not sure Kerry will do them a favour next week either and beat Donegal.

Would be less of a mess if Mayo did as they were expected to do this summer (win Connacht)  At least Mayo can be thankfully they are still in the battle as the last time they reached they last 8 there was no group stage just straight knock out football.

But there should be a middle ground. It's all well and good to say they should have just won their province, but it isn't just about Mayo, it's about all teams that have to play qualifiers, and the provincial championships are a huge problem in the championship structure anyway. The scheduling is a joke. Telling teams to just suck it up isnt going to actually solve the problem.
Some crying from Mayo fans re injuries & scheduling. Every team has injuries, Dubs missing McCarthy & Cooper, Tyrone missing Hampsey & R Donnelly. If you were good enough to win Connaught you wouldn't have had 4 games in 4 weeks. When you see the ease Tyrone put away the Connaught champions in their own backyard maybe you should realise you are just not good enough

Des asks MOR re Monaghan losing 1st game of Super8's last year. "No Des, we won it". Then Des mumbles something about it must have been 2 years ago. Even though there was no Super8 2 years ago. He is so amateurish

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone County Football and Hurling
June 09, 2019, 07:10:17 PM
That was a complete shambles, dunno were to start re the selection/tactical/performance shortcomings.
Cavanagh certainly wasn't sweeper. He was out around middle 1st half but totally ineffectual. But didn't even seem to be targeted by Morgan for kick-outs. We must have lost every one in 1st half when we went long, same as Derry game. McDonnell from Errigal seemed to be sweeper 1st half, no harm to the lad but he was totally out of his depth. He was way too deep & so Donegal got countless scores from play from inside 45 with no-one pressurising the shot.
Harte selection was bemusing. I thought Cassidy must have been injured but then he appears with the game over so obviously not injured. And where does the lad Rafferty suddenly appear from in the starting lineup?? If you were Rory Brennan you'd be seriously thinking of joining your brother leaving the squad when you see McDonnell & Rafferty starting ahead of you.
As mentioned already there was no left-footed free-taker once Harte went off until McCurry came on about 30mins later. Again, Lee Brennan sitting watching the game on telly whilst McAliskey spent the whole day running up & down the stand sideline.
Overall tactics were baffling & played right into Donegal hands, they had 14 men behind the ball with at least 2 sweepers & just hit Tyrone on the counter all game. Yet Tyrone still let them take short kick-outs until about 5mins left. Yet on Tyrone kick outs Morgan was mostly forced long which we invariably lost. Kennedy does not appear to be county standard.
Another reason Tyrone are so open is because last year Mattie was back there helping out, so you're robbing Peter to pay Paul now he's further forward. When Donegal had so many back it was a waste to leave Matty in there. Harte seemed to be fixated on idea that Tyrone needed to keep men up, there has to be adaptability in the tactics/system - Bonner must have been laughing at Tyrone after that yesterday

I listened in car too while travelling. No issue that she was female, she just didn't have a clue & struggled to string a coherent sentence together. As in all walks of life we should have gender balance but only when the person concerned can do the job

I like McStay but watching him use a diagram to explain what a long kickout is was painful.
I don't like McStay & that was a woeful piece, talk about stating the obvious "if you kick it short you will win it more often but you've further to go to get a score, if you kick long you win it less often but if you do win it you've a better chance to score"
FFS, he's getting paid to present this drivel

This was enjoyable. Thought Davy Harte spoke very well, is he managing? He comes across like he could follow in his uncles footsteps in management.

Gormley is brilliant. No heirs or graces, Tyrone to win. Get stuck into the Dubs. What you wouldn't give to have him in his prime getting stuck into Kilkenny on Sunday. Was funny listening to his experience with the psychologist woman from back in 2008 - can't imagine he'd been into that sort of thing  :)
