Jaysus lads, this sort of thing really drill home how stupid we can be sometimes, getting all worked up about the minor details and sport in General.

RIP, and condolences to all her family, friends and loved ones.

I understand what you are saying GBB, but that photo of the stamp was pretty graphic. I know it was just a foot, but surely they could have idenfied the stamper?

I'd tell you, but then it wouldn't be a surprise :D

Bit harsh SDC. I know what you are saying though. I wasn't blown away at all, and apart from a period of about 20 minutes where Liverpool tore them apart and could have scored 4 or 5, I don't think it was anything more than a 'satisfactory' performance.

I do like the fact that Rafa goes for the throat against teams LFC should be beating, 3-4-3 is positive formation.

I don't think LFC were really under severe pressure towards the end, but it was a bit uncomfortable.

The younger Canning, Joe, got an awful doing by all accounts in the Galway county final against Loughrea. Even by Galway club standards, it was pretty severe apparently. There was a photo in a few papers the week following, after Portumna had complained, which showed Canning lying spreadeagled, after one of the many belts he got, on the ground, while a boot was travelling downwards in a stamping motion onto his face, which had a face guard.

Unfortunately it seems as if the face guard broke when he was stamped on, and he ended up getting stitches as the metal grill cut into his face.

Some of the Galway lads can give more exact details, but that's what I remember, and I hasten to add I wasn't at the game in question.

I know retirements can be reversed (see Carey, Denis Joseph) but this is an awful black eye for Galway. A lot of people scoffed when Joe made his comments about joining a rugby club in Limerick. Maybe that's not a million miles away either.

No, I think that's only on NTL or something as part of the Setanta Sports pack. Not that I'd be bothered my arse watching it of course :)

I wonder how long before Liverpool TV comes on air, after whomever takes them over.

It was a good, old fashioned Pass and Move build up alright. Great finish as well, the way he opened up and side footed with the big size 17. Great ball be Riise onto his run though.

I feel sorry for the not-so-happy hammers. I hope they stay up.

Another good result, although LFC were hanging on a bit at the end, albeit not too nervously really. I felt Rafa shouldn't have brought off Crouch, LFC were definitely in the ascendency at that point with the 3-4-3 formation. After Pennant and Gonzalez came on it was essentially 4-5-1.

No matter though, just 2 points behind the Russians now, I just hope the run goes on until the end of the season.

You've lost me GNevin. What problem was in the Canal End? I'm genuinely curious, I can't remember this at all.

I don't undertand what you are saying about the pitch being crap, or the Kilkenny invasion either. I feel like I've missed a few episodes of this series :D

Hi Will,

I subscribed to Setanta 'by default' because I had already been subscribed to NASN and Setanta took them over. To be honest I find the Setanta package excellent. I love the American sports on NASN, and the Soccer, Rugby and of course GAA on Setanta is brilliant. I also like the way they cover club matches, schools matches and other things that RTE wouldn't touch with a barge pole. There's also interesting dicussion shows like the GAA show etc.

All in all, as I've said before, I couldn't be without Setanta now.

I have no affiliation with Setanta by the way :D
