Quote from: tiempo on May 30, 2024, 10:13:29 AMFound it notable the turnover in players between minor and U20 in recent years

Very few of the minor team who lost to Meath were playing in the recent U20 win, with a number of starters not even on the panel, in effect a very young U20 team with some only finished up at MacRory

Similar a few years ago when McHugh was MF on the winning U20 team 3 years before his final year

How is it that 17-18-19yos are significantly outnumbering 20yos on the 20s team?

Fall off between 20s and Senior is to be expected, but seems a gap between minor and 20s

There is some serious talent coming through at the moment but Senior mgmt is the big ticket item on the horizon, the right appointment is critical, no idea who would be best
Any notable omissions that come to mind? Guessing Strain would be the main one

From what I can see only 3 of the starting 15 from the u17s in 2021 weren't in the squad for the recent win.

Agree on next senior management it's hard to see any candidates that are banging down the door to be next in line. Even Tally has done his best work as a coach not as manager.
Niall Robinson, Matthew Mallon and Ronan Strain. Conan Devlin was on the panel for opening game but left because he wasn't starting but he is still underage next year. Likes of Callum Daly, Joey Clarke and Ruairi McCullagh would have been year 11 at school and barely 15 years of age and wouldn't of started their development properly, which is the case in the majority of personel changes from Under 17 teams to Under 20 teams. Another drawback of the whole change away from Under 18 and Under 21.

Quote from: Jerome on May 28, 2024, 06:48:45 AMDoes anyone know Dooher/Logan's championship record our wins, draws and losses?
Bound to be close to more losses than wins?

Won 9
Drawn 1
Lost 7

Since All-Ireland win
Won 4
Drawn 1
Lost 7

That's not great reading.

Only wins in ulster are Fermanagh and Cavan

That is actually depressing reading. Not point wasting another year of players talent with dooher and co. Get them out end of this year. Either Peter Canavan, u 20 manager or o'rouke.
Canavan isn't a viable option, hasn't managed in nearly 10 years. Paddy Tally, Ryan McMenamin, Enda McGinley and Ciaran Meenagh would be more likely candidates.
Better keeping Logan and Dooher than going with Paul Devlin. We are concerned at about how pure talent is keeping us competitive but struggling on the sideline against bigger teams. Devlin has won 2 All Irelands on talent alone and arguably lost 2/3 others based on his inability to manage extremely talented players. Tyrone should really have been won their third All Ireland in a row this year but Devlin was in over his head on the sideline against Conor Laverty in 2023. He was also very questionable in their Semi Final losses in 2019 and 2020.

Quote from: square_ball on May 26, 2024, 10:15:01 PMDidn't know fleadhs and weddings were grounds to have games called off.
Ccc meeting with clubs in February it was agreed that clubs could request dates for weddings or special circumstances (golf classics etc) and county board would refix the game if the two clubs didn't come to an agreement on a refixture

should have been played before the original fixture not weeks later. Somebody has pulled a fly one.
Or ye know, maybe, both teams and ccc agreed to change the game? Bit of co-operation with all parties. Rather than the nonsense of years gone by where clubs twisted with other clubs and forced players to miss weddings etc

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on May 21, 2024, 10:37:03 AMHearing there has been Senior call ups for Shea O'Hare, Michael Rafferty and Eoin McElholm. Would have been expecting Cassidy and Potter as well but haven't heard anything. Wouldn't surprise me to see them three playing a part over the next 3 games. The pace of O'Hare and McElholm could be a big difference late in games. Pace be one thing our senior team has lost since the All-Ireland win, especially in the middle 8.
McAneney, O'Hare, Rafferty, McElholm and Cassidy rumoured to have got the call up during the week.
Being the correct phrase
Now confirmed 👍🏻

Quote from: Aaron Boone on May 19, 2024, 02:55:06 PMDerry wouldn't have been far away from winning it either. It was a very tight Ulster final. They could be counted as the moral champions.

Probably won't have long to wait as will likely be favourites to win the 2025 U20 All Ireland.
Tyrone have a lot of this years team still underage next year and even the year after.
McAneney, Joey Clarke, Ben Hughes, Conor Devlin (2 years left), Callum Daly, Conor O'Neill (2 years left), Eoin McElholm, Ruairi McCullagh (2 years left) and Callum Daly. So Tyrone will probably be looked at as favourites going into next years competition.

Please God they get the win, enjoy it, take a rest and get ready for senior club football
McKenna cup is the next time some of them should see a county jersey
Tyrone rushed 5 lads from the 2022 u20s. Niall Devlin, Steve Donaghy, Ruari Canavan, Conor Cush and Michael McGleenan were all added to the senior panel. It didn't work in 2022, and it won't work in 2024
Very different as it was straight knockout in 2022 when Tyrone played Armagh. This year you have 3 groups games. And a squad lacking depth. Be game time there for them this year you would imagine.

Don't know what championship you were watching but it wasn't straight knock out. Derry beat Tyrone in the first round and Armagh beat Tyrone in first back door round. There obviously would have been more games if we had beat Armagh but we didn't.

Knockout as in back door rather than round robin last 16
