Liverpool have signed 16-year-old midfielder Harvey Elliott from Fulham.

Elliott became the youngest player to feature in the Premier League when he came on as a substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers in May, aged just 16 years and 30 days.

The England youth international cannot turn professional until his 17th birthday next April.

Liverpool say he will be in their squad for Sunday's friendly against Napoli in Edinburgh at 17:00 BST.

Elliott, who attracted attention from Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester City, will become the second emerging talent to join Liverpool this summer after 17-year-old Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg moved from PEC Zwolle.

Hard to a remember a worst pre-season in terms of results and signings. Though at least we haven't lost any player of consequence and of course the 3 lads and the keeper will make a bit of a difference!

I've been through too many excellent pre-seasons followed by appalling starts to the real stuff to give a bollocks. As the cliche goes with the NFL in February or March, you've no idea what kind of heavy training they're at at any point.

Saw them in Yankee Stadium the other night and they looked very good.

Are we in for anyone? Even an unsubstantiated rumour will do at this stage...

With the team Liverpool have at the minute they are only a sniff away from winning the league, 3 decent squad players would be all thats required to seal the deal, they have more than enough cover for places in that team at present.

3/1 in places to win the leauge this year

Just can't see them doing any better than last year. It's going to a 90 point season at best, will see if that's good enough to get the win
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

City are going to hit around 100 points again.

Maybe next year will be the year!  :P Silva, Aguero and Ferandinho will be a further year into their 30s.

No need for all the pessimism at this stage. City can not win all the time either.

Didn't see the first half today (apparently City were the better team), but Liverpool were far and away the better team in the second and should have won from that position. Don't care about the penalty shootout. Main thing was to go toe to toe with City and look like they could hit the new season up and running. Salah looked excellent, although he was a wee bit greedy. Gomez fantastic.

Lol. Probably paid for by those in council houses with their kids go without as a result.

Would you stop embarrassing the rest of us Utd fans with your constant pathetic attempt at 'banter'  ::)
