In recent times Slaughtneil have won titles in both codes in Derry within 4 years (Hurling 2000, Football 2004).

Before that Dungiven won Senior Hurling 1996 and 1998 but won the Derry and Ulster Football Championship in 1997. There were a number of dual players on both the Dungiven and Slaughtneil teams at the time.

I'm sure if you ran a poll there would be at least 85% have pissed in public whether it be the side of a road, down a back alley, behind a skip.

It's not pretty and is most definitey ignoarant and bad mannered but sometimes it just needs to be done.

Any danger of themn developing a decent system for producing and managing a club website?

I'm in the process of gathering together ideas and researching different types of content management system at the minute and it seems to be a bit of a nightmare. The current GAA CMS looks crap as well as the design of a lot of gaa.ie websites. Something ese which needs to be looked at I think.

However they are nowhere near the worst Armagh Club fans I have experienced, the wonderful honour is between Pearse Ogs and Armagh Harps. Both these sets of fans are the worst I have ever come across in Club Football anywhere. Now I do Realise that all Clubs have their Head the Balls and and that both these clubs have genuinely good supporters also, but Having been at plenty of Ogs and Harps games over the last number of years, both clubs have a very sizeable unsavoury element.

Being at Ogs games and being at Harps games has introduced me to a level of bad manners, abuse, jeering, bad language and name calling (to players and officials) that I find most uncomfortable.  Both teams seem to attract a strangely large number of sc**bags and dodgy characters, which is probably due to being from a large town, and after some of the games i have been very glad to be leaving the pitch.  What I find the most dissapointing about this is, the fact that although both teams are nowhere near Crossmaglen in terms of ability, they are the next best teams in Armagh, and are probably the only ones with any hope of putting it up to cross in the near future, and the antics of there fans are definately not a help and would also nearly make me not support the underdog in such a challenge.

Words indeed to blacken the name of the Harps Club, and if I may say, entirely in keeping with the persona that you have built up here for 'billythekid'. Like Benny earlier, I entirely refute your claims, made here under what you perceive to be a cloak of total anonymity. The words go against 'billythekid', but you yourself typed them here about our Club on this public forum. For doing that, you should hang your head in shame!

What is wrong with an individual talking of his encounters with other clubs and their behaviout. I thought this was a discussion forum and the behaviour of fans in Armagh. The man has been to many Armagh champinship games and is writing about his experience. Just because it is not to your liking doesn't mean it isn't true!

Bring in the mark for kickouts and I think it would be a great rule. You will see some spectacular catches and some great aerial battles. I think the handpass rule is a bit of a non entity though.

Another rule I would introduce is that all free kicks inside the 45 should be taken off the ground... kicking a dead ball is an excellent skill which has been lost in our game!!

All kickouts would be made short to ensure you make ground and keep pocession
. If a goalie kicking out and a great fielder on the opposing team was in the middle of the field it would be silly to try a long KO for him to take a mark and kick that mark back over the bar.

High fielding is a big part of the game and is rewarded. It is what makes Dara O and the likes great players. If he wasn't rewarded for catching high balls he would just be a good player and not a great player.

Teams try and do that now anyway. I don't think a mark for kickouts is veering us towards Aussie Rules at all. There are maybe 30 or so opportunities for kickouts during a game and I would Like to see them contested properly. Possibly have a rule that the kickout must go past the 45 or something if you want to stop short crappy kickouts. Also if we introduced the mark across the board then you would get 20 yard kickpasses the whole way up the pitch and we would essentially turn into Aussie Rules.

I think we are definitely losing some facets of our game such ass the high catch and the kick off the ground. If we do not do somethin about this then we will eventually turn into a handpassing game with blanket defences and nobody wants to see that!

I'm not saying to have the mark all over but to me there is no better thing in our game than seeing a man rise and pluck a ball above 4/5 other players from a kickout. At the minute that simply isn't being rewarded and having some shitbag who can jump and thump somebody in the back of the head (Holmes, any Armagh midfielder apart from McGrane) is nearly treated as well as someone like Darragh O'Sé when they simply don't have the same class. If you catch a ball from the kickout the least you should be rewarded with is possession of the ball.

Cheers for pointing out that flaw juice but I would say a mark is not a free kick and much like Aussie Rules you should be able to play on if you feel the need or use a handpass.

Haven't met too many who can hit a kickout inside the opponents 45 though so I can't see it being much of a dilemma!

Cutting down on red cards would not necessarily be a bad thing, but only if they're introducing a match ban for players for an accumulation of yellows. Is that in the proposal?
They should also only allow a team to accumulate so many yellows in a game before a man yellow-carded can no longer be replaced - 3 or 4 or whatever. That's plenty of time for players/mentors to assess what today's ref will and won't allow ....

Very strange that they would revert to a system that they saw fit to throw out 3 years ago. Unless they make some additions as above. I haven't read the details.

I have no recollection of a sin-bin trial whatsoever. But the main problem with the sin-bin is how to administer it at the lowest level fixtures, underage club etc. where you've no neutral officials on the line.

Not hard at all and is used very well in Ladies Football!

This is a disgrace of a rule and will lead to massive problems when implemented. A sin bin possibly... but not sent off for the rest of the game it's ludicrous. Referees will send people off for honest endeavour and for human mistakes and this just isn't right!!!

Orangeman,
You boys wouldn't have been trying to get Kyle a few days rest before the game  ;)

I did see that posted somewhere else.

I also heard the same rumour! The lad will hardly be able to play this weekend though will he? I should be in Belfast on Sunday so might take a wee trip over the to the game. Should be a good one.
