You know when people say things like, "This would never happen if a woman was running the country/banks etc."?
Turns out women are just as capable of making an utter balls of things as men are.

and guess what? us men are the problem according to alot of women, apparently this wouldnt happen in mens gaa!!! the ignorance of some women on this topic is staggering and they have a really big chip on there shoulder... build a f**king bridge and get over it... errrr

In fairness if you'd been oppressed for 8000 years you'd have a fair chip on your shoulder too.

We've got enough of a chip on our shoulder about being oppressed by England for 800 sodding years..

aye i know what your saying...if it wasnt for that b**tard cromwell our club would have won the championship by now!!!

General discussion / Re: The Milk Cup?
July 29, 2015, 04:02:35 PM
i am a father of two boys who both play soccer and one is playing this week in the milk cup and both played in last weeks foyle cup,Gaelic football is the number one choice with the boys and of course myself but soccer is very quickly catching up in popularity and the simple reason is organisation. In Gaa underage in derry you are not sure from one week to the next if and when you play, one of our best club minor teams has played something like 4 or 5 matches all year!! and dont get me started the effect of this negative crap that's being played by county teams is having.
My kids are guaranteed a match every Saturday rain hail or shine, the refs are very good (underage refs in Derry are desperate) and always turn up,if a match is scheduled for 2pm it will start at 2pm,not 2.10,2.20 ....We may gripe about the coverage it gets but they have earned that by how well it is organised and promoted,IMO the Gaa in some counties take for granted they are the top sport in there particular county but eventually this attitude will have a serious detriment on playing numbers in the future.

They're saving that for Spillane - A Legacy.

Ironically I usually forget just how much of an all-time great Pateen is with all the shite he talks. A bit like Paudi (not saying he talked shite but y'know) he'll only get proper recognition like this when he's gone.

You'd imagine there is a whole generation (if not two) out there who have no real understanding of how good a footballer Spillane actually was - no-one under the age of 30 probably ever saw him play a game - instead he's one of the lads on the telly who talks nonsense. O'Rourke is in the same boat given they are around the same vintage and Brolly is probably the same for folk under 20.

You could up that age for Spillane by about 5 or 10 years as im 30 and I don't remember him playing at all.
Brolly was around when I was in Primary school..

No offense to O'Rouke and brolly, great footballers but not in the same league as spillane,he was something else in full flight,he basically beat tyrone on his own in 86 and by that stage he was well past his best.

Bloody horrible golf course; featureless, characterless and the greens look like stale pancakes.

agree 100% - its as if everyone - players and pundits are afraid to say it. Never mind corruption in FIFA and back-handers for worldcup bids, who voted for this place? I understand the will to get the US open to the North West, but surely there are better courses than this? I don't really care about the colour of the greens, but the surface is rubbish. There's no skill involved putting on a bad surface, the winter greens at my local clubs were better ffs.
That said, there are a few things i do like about Chambers Bay - I really like the idea of the non-level tee boxes that have the players thinking about how to use it to shape shots. I also like that spectators are restricted well back from most of the holes..

yip i also agree, the course looks more like a oversized crazy golf course...also maybe  it is just me but the coverage is terible, between background noise and the actual sound of the club hitting the ball about 2secs after the player hits it!!...not enjoying it so far.

How could not admire the man after what he has achieved and gone through. I am not overly holy as they say, and he does egg the holy stuff, but his passion came through for me. Leaders are made of stern stuff, and to be at the top you need a steely unshakable belief, he has that in buckets.

as a manager theres not many better in the modern game and no disputing his achievements buts its his hypocrisy which screen exile has pointed out that really get on some peoples goat, going around religious meetings preaching about morality and forgiveness yet he contradicts this while manager of one of the most cynical teams ever to play the game, very difficult to admire IMO of course.

i have to say in the past and on this thread i have backed Joe but in this case i certainly cant,he always makes great points but if he continues to say things like he did on sunday theres no way anyone could take him as a serious analyst and he will lose all credibility if he hasn't already, really out of order this time.

Naomh Mhichíl. It would sicken your hole.

What? The fact that he made Tyrone one of the best teams if the modern era? I'd say that would sicken the hole of a county living on past glories alright!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion Brendan. Stop letting that anger get the better of you again.

No anger here my little Derry buddy! But anyone who watched Mickey talk about what he talked about and think to themselves that it sickened their hole, must have a pretty sick hole to begin with. I'm sure people weren't expecting Pat Kenny to discuss blanket defences, sledging and the geometrics of football now were they?

It sickens my hole that he tried to say Tyrone were the attacking team in the 2003 All Ireland Semi Final and Pat let him away with it.

It sickens my hole that he talks about his faith and doing the right thing all the time yet let's a tr**p like Ryan McMenamin do what he did for so long.

It sickens my hole that he's this man of great faith etc. yet RTE apologised for that they did and he still won't speak or let his team speak to RTE. . . there are more but that's 3 without even thinking too hard about it.

Personally what he's been through is horrendous and the way he has overcome it is admirable but there does seem to be 2 different sides to the man when it comes to football!!!

great post and so true

Cockahoop that is some allegation to make, you would really want to have witnessed it yourself as you will get yourself into trouble some day if its loose talk.  ...and very clever the way you have used it to help you denigrate a larger group, set up and indeed county.

oh it was said and heard and the club made it known to the opposing clubs manager, the only reason it wasn't followed up was because of the high profile of the man involved and a child of ten shouldn't have to go into a official investigation and wouldn't take long before it was in the papers.my work colleague is a prominent member of the club involved and lets just say we are very aware of the legal rights and wrongs of what can be said or not said on here as were in the legal business, knowing the father of the child I'm pretty sure it wont go unpunished.
using it to denigrate a larger group comes from alot of my own experiences, yeah maybe wrong to tar everyone with the one brush but you could tar a great majority

I dont know why your all surprised by this latest incident involving tyrone, they have been at it for years, there lowere than low and will never change, only a few weeks ago Mickey hartes right hand man threatened to "kick the shite" out of a 10 year old in a u/12 friendly match with a derry club so its happening from the top down.
